Renewed: How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother has been given a sixth season renewal by CBS.

CBS sure is in a good move this week, renewing some of its biggest brands.

How I Met Your Mother has been given a sixth season renewal by the broadcaster, which is good news for Seven.

The early pick-up contrasts with late-renewals that have dogged the comedy in previous years.

The comedy celebrated its 100th episode earlier this month, while creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas recently signed a deal with 20th Century Fox TV to create a new show about a young couple and their friends in Pittsburgh.

  1. @ Francis, and to anyone else who didnt watch season 4’s final episode;
    at the cliffhanger at the end of season 4 we find out that in season 5 we do meet the mother (we are told that as ted is a lecturer/professor, that the mother is in that class he teaches, meaning that we meet her season 5- even though they did put off introducing the mother… we should now meet her, they shouldn’t put it off for another season.

    and a reminder that shows work on ratings, How I Met Your Mother has high ratings, and unless the ratings fall, the show should continue for however long Carter Bays and Craig Thomas would like (unless CBS/another channel dont pick them up for another season).

    Keep in mind the show might continue for like 20 seasons, who knows, the show may decide to start adding the kids and everything in!
    but really, i only see this show running for maybe another 3 seasons (lets say 6,7, and 8 seasons), the ratings are almost sure to fall in season six, unless it gets interesting again. lets hope for some creative genius’ from the team!

  2. Now this means another grueling season wait until we find out who the mother is…i mean…they should call the show ‘how to prolong the identity of a mother’

    and if i were those kids i’d just got and ask mum. i mean, dad tells a story for 5 years and still not definite ending…’mum…how did u meant dad’…’umm in a bar’…’ok, thanks mum’.

  3. Good news – still my personal favourite sitcom on air. I hope they fix the quality though – kinda like The Office it seems like they ran out of ideas a year and a half ago.

  4. Now let’s hope for 2 and a half men to be renewed. I’ve just discovered the show on Arena (I hate channel nine… except for underbelly and wipeout) and am loving it. Started watching since the pilot episode (every saturday they show 5 episodes and I was lucky enough to start watching both shows from the pilot episode) and am now hooked 😀
