Returning: Australia’s Greatest Athlete

Rugby league's Billy Slater returns to take on a new batch of sports stars in Seven's sponsor-driven series.

Seven’s series of Australia’s Greatest Athlete, previously a sponsor-driven series that aired on Nine, will begin at 4:30pm Saturday February 6th.

Rugby league’s Billy Slater returns to take on a Olympic diving gold medallist Matthew Mitcham, A-league footballer Jason Culina, AFL’s Cameron Ling, rugby union’s James O’Connor, plus Wendell Sailor, V8 Supercar driver Craig Lowndes and current and two-time World Ironman champion Shannon Eckstein.

The one-hour show is hosted by Mark Beretta and Tom Williams.

  1. i watched it on Nine, and quite enjoyed it. I agree – hopefully Seven doesn’t cheapen it. Lat year’s and this year’s competitors are a good mix overall

  2. I really liked Nine’s laid back, weekend style of presenting this last year, so hopefully Seven doesn’t cheapen it. There’s some big names in there too… Mitcham, Sailor, Lowndes and even Lingy!? (So… obviously no eye candy then… was Cameron Smith too busy?!?) Maybe some older, tougher competitors in future… perhaps a former boxer, or NRL/AFL star or coach?

  3. I might consider watching this but I really hate Tom Williams. Sure he’s got the looks, but his voice is so yobbo and annoying. Not to mention he asks useless and stupid questions if interviewing anybody. Larry Emdur should be on this instead 😀

Oh and they should have a greatest female athlete show too – we have plenty of good athletes around.
