Surf’s up on Hawaii Five-0 remake

“Book ‘em, Danno.” CBS is going ahead with its new version of Hawaii Five-0.

The revamp has been under development with the network since October.

The new version doesn’t appear to be straying (or is that surfing?) away from the original premise of an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police headed by Steve McGarrett and answerable only to the governor. The original series, complete with iconic theme tune, ran from 1968-1980.

The new series is under the eyes of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and CSI: NY executive producer Peter Lenkov.  All three have excellent pedigree. Kurtzman and Orci recently penned the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek, plus two Transformers movies and Mission: Impossible III. Both are producers on Fringe.

The project, from CBS Studios, scored a sizable commitment when it landed at CBS in October.

Speculation at the moment is that Alex O’loughlin is being courted by CBS for the lead role of Chris McGarret the son of Steve.

lol I doubt Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci boast too much about scribing Transformers 2. :)

That’s all we need, another stupid cop show. Hollywood is just full of original ideas.

I loved the original so will give this a go and hope they keep the theme tune.

This will be on 10 right?
