TEN: February 7 schedule

TEN’s schedule for the first week of ratings is confirmed.

The Biggest Loser, hosted by Hayley Lewis, is stripped across its week following The 7PM Project, leaving some shows to commence at 8pm and others at 8:30pm.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia will become a Wednesday night variety show, following its debut week of auditions beginning Sunday January 31st.

Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation shifts from Tuesdays to Sundays followed by The Good Wife premiere and House.

Bondi Rescue and Law and Order: SVU return.

And TEN is all but cutting its umbilical cord to The Simpsons. Just one episode will air across the week as a 20th Anniversary Special on Sunday (except for one rpt in Melb.). With TEN having aired 4 new episodes already in summer, it is no longer screening a new episode on weeknights, and Malcolm in the Middle remains in its traditional weeknight 6pm slot.

Also premiering or returning are The Circle, Meet the Press plus sports events NAB Cup and the NFL SuperBowl.

  1. Tom of not SE Australia says:

Re the Superbowl – 10am will be the Eastern Daylight Saving time kickoff time. Does anyone know if the match will be live to Qld, SA and WA or will we have a repeat of last years ridiculous situation where we had to sit through 9am with David and Kim before the game?

  2. damo says:

i am glad i will be in bali when the super bowl is on. so i won’t have to see the drip maher and dave hughes trying to talk about the nfl. geez it was an absolute disgrace last year

  3. bobby says:

i’m pretty sure we’re up to date with america on the simpsons, so there’s no point wanting any more until it returns there.

  4. Debbie says:

Some good shows but i still won’t be watching channel 10 until they bring Supernatural back

  5. David Knox says:

Its 9pm this Sunday, 9:30 a week later. SC10 is correct.

  6. Jacob Pittolo says:

Southern Cross Ten is advertising House for Sunday at 9pm, not 9:30… – any idea why?

  7. Craig says:

LOL Army Wives S2 is premiering after Letterman!

And then probably in a few months it will be on W in prime-time…

  8. Johnson says:

Looks like my previous comments were omitted. I did say it is an “ambitious” line-up by Ten by moving TBYG and House to Sunday nights, and SYTYCD to midweek.
@ Daniel at January 22, 2010 at 3:34 pm: I’m not sure if ONE has the rights to Daytona 500, but it will broadcast 24 Hours of Daytona endurance race this weekend (January 30-January 31 in the US).

  9. franz chong says:

I am pleased they still have the 7pm Project in there as the Friends and Other Long Gone American Sitcoms they were screening in that timeslot were getting old and tired but the one thing that is missing is a 90210 or other similar type of programme for the generation who were only babies or very young when they all debuted back in the late eighties or first half of the nineties that is relevant to the young people of today.
Todays Under 25′s would have only been under the age of 5 or not even born yet when Tori Spellings Dad created the original 90210 so how about it Ten.

  10. franz chong says:

rather disappointing about no Simpsons and no Cleveland.Obviously they have forgotten about those of us who don’t give a crap about Dance Shows and you can’t buy a box set yet at this stage of the Cleveland Brown Show which makes it even more frustrating.

  11. gasbo says:

Nothing there to excite me, won’t be watching any TEN, Smallville and Supernatural would bring me over, no wait, seen them….. ;-)

There’s probably bugger all Simpsons Dman because we are only 2 eps behind the US and poor old Matthew Abram (Matt) Groening is stuck in his tiny studio, sweating and painting more as we speak

  12. jamntoast says:

Ten have me covered except for SYTYCD and TBL. No switching to Seven or Nine.

  13. Cindy says:

I stopped watching SYTYCD after the first season but I think I might watch some of this season. Definitely looking forward to TBYG except I liked it’s original timeslot.
On the other hand, I’ll still angry that Supernatural is gone.

  14. AA says:

Any idea when new Simpsons episodes will air?

Quite liking Malcm at 6pm though, btw.

  15. robert says:

@jenny i think you find a lot of those shows were not though up by ten but via independent production companies, ten although did help nuture and give them a chance

  16. Bre Saxs says:

It seems that Malcolm is taking over from Simpsons. Couldn’t Simpsons or Cleveland Show be shown Tuesdays’s at 8pm? Move Bondi Rescue to Sunday evenings after House. That show doesn’t rate well anyway.

David, could you please indicate which programs are being effected for the SuperBowl? It does seem unusual for it to be shown on the regular Ten, now that Ten have a 24/7 sports channel. Maybe it’s being simulcast on both channels.

Great to see Medium is coming back. Would be nice to know when the 5th season is to come out in DVD in Australia, as there were some episodes I missed. I thought it would be out by now.

  17. James says:

Pity to see Outrageous Fortune go again. I don’t know why Australian networks never promote the Kiwi dramas they show and then wonder why they rate poorly. The great success of dirt cheap NZ factuals (occasionally being a week’s highest rating show) shows that Kiwi shows can get a following here when properly promoted and given a decent time slot.

  18. NCISLAfan says:

Any idea when new episodes of NCIS: LA will return to 10? Why air a repeat when NCIS is returning?

  19. jenny says:

@ lostfan87. I did say some. Seven and Nine would not have thought about TBYG, Masterchef and TGYH. Since, the success of Masterchef, Seven and Nine have decided to do MKR and The Great Aussie Cook-off.

  20. Cameron says:

Sundays look good. I’ll be watching shows across Nine and Ten from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Biggest Loser Fridays will be good and the new timeslot is much better. Dance has a better time as well and good to see Medium return. Good Wife looks good and new NCIS.

Good line up Ten. Pity Seven couldn’t follow your lead

  21. lostfan87 says:

@Jenny “Ten may lack organisational and development skills but they do come up with some original ideas. Unlike, Nine… ”
You seem to be forgetting about the Spearman Experiment aka 20-5 To 1

  22. Anon says:

Whats the point of having ONE a 24/7 sports channel when you put the superbowl on normal TEN. Come on TEN, use your sports channel and put some decent programs instead

  23. jenny says:

At least Ten have some original shows. The shows on Ten aren’t too shabby. Ten may lack organisational and development skills but they do come up with some original ideas. Unlike, Nine who keep going on about Two and a Half Men and Underbelly. Can’t wait for NCIS and GNW.

Loved the GNW Underbelly Spoof promos a few years ago.

  24. Leo says:

So Outrageous Fortune is gone yet again – I simply don’t get why this show doesn’t rate for 10 – it’s a fantastic show – a lot better than most of the Aussie stuff we get.
If channel 10 bought the cast over (like Glee), promoted the show better & gave it a timeslot it deserves it will do so well for 10.
I know so many people that love the show – come on 10 take a chance on this great drama!

  25. Burt says:

If Can West can get Ten sold off, shows for them to screen on a 3rd channel if it gets launched this year, are White Collar (if the ratings aren’t substantial enough, but it should stay on Ten’s standard channel), Supernatural, Smallville (looking at how long they’re taking to screen it, hopefully Nine can get it back off them for Go), Psych, Monk, 90210 (they could show this crap show for a whole year, looking at how behind they are), Melrose Place (this would struggle on Ten’s current network, as it’s rating abysmally in the US), Stargate Universe, Caprica, Everybody Hates Chris, One Tree Hill, Law & Order UK (where the UK show flopped with Aus viewers, the planned L&O Los Angeles show should do well for Ten on their standard channel, as all 3 L&O shows are filmed in New York city).

  26. Paull says:

Just to add a comment about lack of simpsons: Personally I’m not minding malcom repeats, it reminds me of the early 2000s, plus it’s actually funny and well written. I hated how back when nine aired the show they have 1 new ep then 5 repeats- it was so frustrating not being able to watch the series in order.

  27. Paull says:

Don’t see the logic of airing American football on ten’s main channel. Looks like no more Cleveland or simpsons repeats say.

  28. ant says:

Not a lot there. House is always good. And I’m pleased to see Burn Notice there, just hope Ten doesn’t shaft it around and then wonder why the ratings go down.
    No Supernatural though, sigh.

  29. Andy says:

Ten’s schedule looks a bit like a US network’s schedule now, with a big family Sunday night, and moving their dramas to later night.
Interesting moving TBL to 7:30pm weeknights– a move that could have saved Big Brother years ago.
SYTYCD on Wednesday night? is that to set a challenge for Hey Hey when it starts up again?

  30. franz chong says:

Malcolm is not a bad thing at 6pm but I do wish looking back on it now Ten had done the right thing with the Taken Out/Blind Date type of programmes. Not all of us want to watch a long gone American Sitcom.

  31. franz chong says:

Rather disappointed that there is no new Simpsons on a Monday Night anymore.I guess I can do my fitness sessions at my local health club a little later now and get home in time for Good News Week.

  32. Craig says:

The NCISs are falling behind, 5 of each have now aired in the US since the summer break.

Yes bring back White Collar and Burn Notice to to mention Supernatural and what about the new StarGate? I bet TEN is banking these for it’s 3rd channel… to late TEN!

  33. Dave says:

Please get rid of the 7pm repeat and let watch Letterman

  34. Harry says:

Wooohooo, New NCIS on the Tuesday! I’ll be watching The Biggest Loser as well, its must see TV in my opinion. I will also watch the Avatar Special that they are airing, what a treat! Might catch a glimpse of Dance/The Goodwife, strong line up – it should fair well but then you have the 7PM fail.

  35. RichoTB says:

This is a risky schedule. Lets see how it goes.

Don’t see why so many people are complaining about White Collar and Supernatural, both shows are terrible and rate abysmally. Solid move on shifting House to Sunday as its been failing for years. I think this lineup will go better than expected.

  36. Tepee says:

No Simpsons at all? Never thought that’d be happening. Otherwise it looks like a solid schedule post-8:30. Interesting that SVU back to the timeslot where it was rating well, but this time it will be competing with the similar CSI, unless Nine moves it.

I like The 7PM Project but it rates poorly and The Biggest Loser will have a lot of ground to make up, now against tougher 7:30 competition, so it may be a struggle at least in total viewers for the first couple of weeks at TBL gains momentum. Also I don’t know why they’re persisting with 7PM Project repeats late at night. I understand why they’re doing this during summer to gain as many viewrs as possible, but isn’t this shrinking the potential audience at 7 o’clock?

  37. Rhys says:

Sigh…just when I think FTA television might finally have enough on offer to tempt me to part ways with Foxtel, I read a ‘ratings period’ schedule like that one from Ten. Mind you, it still has infinitely more appeal than Seven.

  38. newtaste says:

AFL at 10:45 in Sydney is still too early. Should only screen after midnight.

  39. Meg says:

Mmmmm interesting, so ten wants us to watch there new shows………

Well after supernatural and also all the other tv show I love that they didnt give a chance, I think I will wait the standard two weeks before I even consider watching anything.

  40. Craig says:

I don’t think the reality shows stripped at 7:30 weeknights will work. If there is a show on another channel say on Wednesday and they usually watch TBL as well, they will forego the Wednesday night episode and might keep away from it from then on. At least being at 7pm it was a level playing field with all channels stripping their 7pm shows.

  41. Marc says:

    Hey 10,
just incase your still taking notice of us. I wont be watching Biggest Loser you have worn out the concept and it’s simply the same every season. I am not watching Love Actually tonight. I wont be watching So You Think You Can Dance it’s the same every season. Nor will you have me for Law and Order it’s the same as all the others you can add The Good Wife,The Circle, Meet the Press, NAB Cup and the NFL SuperBowl to the list of “I wont be watching” shows.
I want to be entertained not assaulted. What else have you got ?

  42. MJ says:

Do we Really need to have TBL on every day? And will the NAB Cup matches be on ONE in the Northern States or is it on the ASL?

  43. Stephen H says:

So is Outrageous Fortunes gone permanently then from Friday seems a shame that they can’t even play it late night and while I’m aware it rates terribly what do 10 expect when they skip 2 seasons worth of episodes. (which I’m hoping to get on DVD) So it looks like the only thing worth watching is Army Wives oh well.

  44. Denys says:

Is that the end of the road (again) for Outrageous Fortune then.

  45. AA says:

David any word on when new Simpsons eps return?

  46. Daran says:

Looks like us northern viewers get screwed with AFL again for another year

  47. jb1524 says:

hmm… most days look pretty good, but why are fridays just repeats?

  48. Marco says:

We’ll have pretty much caught up with the States by next week, hence no new eppies of the Simpsons. Their next new ep airs Jan 31, and we’ll have aired all news episodes by then. They’ll be wanting to build a backlog, me thinks.

  49. Bella says:

Michelle and Hayley look very similar in that photo. Good line up. Will miss TBL on at 7pm. Happy to have a repeat of The Good Wife on a Friday night, works well. They just need to get rid of the repeats of The 7pm Project before Letterman.

  50. Earthquake says:

That’s a shame that Outrageous Fortune has been removed from the schedule :(

  51. Andrew B says:

Why do they have to keep on repeating 7pm late night?

  52. Minnie says:

Ugh, no White Collar or Supernatural, the only two shows I’m really interested in. No point watching 10 at all, I guess.

  53. koverstreet says:

Can see that schedule doing well for 10 with lots of shows to appeal to the young hipsters. Like another poster Malcolm is starting to grow on me and it’s a nice change from The Simpsons.

Don’t like House moving to Sunday night I prefer it as a midweek show. Prefer TBYG on Tuesdays as well but Sunday is ok.

  54. Nick says:

Not too bad, but you can see TBYG losing audience from the older end to 60 minutes if it’s back by then. And 10 bucks Border Security goes to Sundays at 7:30, so that will affect it too. I think Tuesdays was it’s perfect corner. But in the words of televsion ‘When you find a better thing, stuff with it’

As for Burn Notice, great show, but I’d side with putting White Collar on ahead of this.

  55. Billy says:

Of course , there’s no Melrose Place.
or 90210 or anything I am wating for .They messed up The Office for me too.
Luckily all these X channel 10 shows will be on dvd this year and I predict before Channel Ten screen it .Then they’ll screen it but won’t watch it .

  56. mikeys says:

I’m happy with Your Gen moving into Sunday’s – a good way to finish off the weekend.

The 1-2 hour block of 7PM/Loser pretty much rules me out for that hour, and presumably much of the rest of the evenings unless I happen to flick back.

  57. Vicky says:

So I gathered no return of White Collar any time soon by the looks of it. Ch10 has lost a viewer forever now.

  58. Justin says:

White Collar will most likely be given a chance on tens new channel. I think they are doing the right thing putting NCIS rpts on Fridays. It may only rate 600-700k but thats more consitent than other things that have been on in that timeslot. The Good Wife encore might be smart as well as ten would be hoping for the most out it.

Generation at 7:30 Sunday is smart. I ask those of you who say it shouldn’t move from tuesday to answer this: What would you think of it starting at 8:00 tuesdays and new episodes of NCIS starting at 9:00?

Neighbours will Never be axed anytime soon or moved from that 6:30 timeslot. Half the cost is paid by the UK and it is shown in over 50 countries. Aint going anywhere ten make sooooo much money from the show. The 7PM project shouldn’t be moved either, just yet, give it the next 3 months to build. It is doing pretty well this summer – not getting smashed anyway. So it should be interesting to see how it does when it has a solid lead out (The Biggest Loser). And for those who don’t think it has improved it got 630k on wednesday and neighbours got 440k. 7PM rarely outrates Neighbours by that much and I think it only did that 3 times in ratings period last year and that was in its first week.

  59. Brent says:

Loving the new night for So You Think You Can Dance. Both SYTYCD & Idol perform extremely well on Wednesday nights in the US. Hopefully it will be equally successful here in Australia!

Can someone confirm that it will remain on Wednesday nights? And then Thursday night live results?

  60. David Knox says:

NCIS Fri rpt is different ep to Tues.

  61. Jed says:

Really don’t know why they can’t put White Collar on Friday instead of NCIS. I love NCIS but i’d rather watch new White Collar episodes. I’ve given up watching NCIS repeats now.

  62. Garion says:

I wonder how long it takes for the Simpsons to come back. Nothing else seems to have lasted in the 6pm slot.

I wonder why ten haven’t tried moving 7pm around a bit. Personally, it would be great to watch at 6.30 in opposition of ACA/TT, but I suppose that would come at the cost of cannibalising Neighbours ratings. But would ten consider doing this if it boosted its overall ratings for the 6.30-7.30 time slot?

I wouldn’t put it at 6, especially coming straight in after the news (but weren’t they talking about 1.5 hours of news a short time ago) I can’t see it holding up against 7 or 9 though.

  63. George says:

I reckon all up that’s pretty good for TEN. However, I’d really sort out their 6-7PM block ASAP. Malcom in the Middle isn’t the solution. TEN News should go from either 5:30-6:30 or start at 5 still and go for 90 mins until 6:30, and hopefully that’d give Neighbours a bit of a boost.

  64. Brodie says:

Still no sign of White Collar? Ugh, I give up on you Ten.

  65. chuck says:

tbyg should stay on tue, and burn notice shouldnt be on so late!

  66. Daniel says:

Does anyone know if ONE have the Daytona 500 qualifying races and the race itself showing?

  67. Rod says:

Malcolm needs a chance at 6pm – I have to admit I’m starting to get attached to it…

David, is the Friday NCIS rpt an “encore” of Tuesday’s new ep or will it be an old episode?

  68. Seymor Smith says:

I look forward to Ross Noble and possibly an episode of SVU here and there but it looks like 2010 might be end of regular tv watching for me. Too many DVD box sets to get through.

  69. ryaneco says:

Shame Ten couldn’t make room for The Simpsons; there’s a lot of Loser in that schedule; with 1.5 hours on Friday you’d think they could cut Monday to half hour and have the Simpsons flow into GNW.

Malcolm needs to go Neighbours needs to be taken out and be shot.

Its not a bad schedule though it should be fairly solid; but I can’t help but think Ten will be down compared to last year; they’re not trying to rebuild the schedule from 7pm anymore after a horrendous 6pm hour but now Ten are going to need to rebuild from 7.30 – their 7.30-10.30 shows are going to need to be mighty strong to make up for a poor performing 6-7.30.

  70. GuanoLad says:

Well, that would explain why I thought I saw a billboard today with Shaun Micallef laying across a big “Sunday”.

  71. AA says:

Nice to see Malcom at 6pm and a break from new Simpsons eps.

Interesting that Talking bout your generation is on a different night now.

  72. james says:

This looks like a pretty good lineup. Hope it works for Ten. Think they still need to fix The 7pm Project though. Theres just no chemistry there and it often doesnt flow. Dave Hughes is good on Before The Game, but doesnt fit in this genre. Too many “comedians” trying to get a punchline out of everything. The shows a great idea, but it stil needs a major overhaul.

  73. Woody says:

Let’s see Ross Noble sounds good and nothing else oh ten why do you suck so hard?
