TEN unveils early premieres

The Biggest Loser, So You Think You Can Dance, Good News Week, Burn Notice, House, Medium, and White Collar will all return in the week of January 31st.

TEN has revealed its programming for the week of January 31st which, as expected, unveils several of its key titles ahead of official ratings.

It includes The Biggest Loser, So You Think You Can Dance Australia, Good News Week, Burn Notice, House, Medium, and White Collar.

The Biggest Loser with new host Hayley Lewis is stripped at 7:30pm weeknights following The 7PM Project, while the line-up also includes the premiere of Ross Noble’s Australian Trip and the late-night return of Army Wives. Little else changes in the schedule so far, with 9AM Summertime also still in place.

TEN’s strategy in recent years has always been to launch key shows ahead of ratings and Seven will do likewise. Additional titles will no doubt appear once ratings resume on February 7th.

  1. I like the scedule. Its still a non ratings week and Im assuming ten are hoping shows like Dance and Loser can boost there last week of summer and help promoting there full line up for Feb 7. As for Dance, buyten.com.au had Generation to premier Feb 7 which makes me think Dance will move to 8:00pm Wednesday and Elimination shows 30mins Thursday. They also had Bondi for Tuesday 9th. Medium will probably shift foward to 9:30 in week 2 and House will probably go 8:30 sunday out of Generation as House did well out of TGYH a few years ago, generation is simular to TGYH and House is also quite different to Underbelly. The Good Wife is set to premier Monday 8th Feb so i think it will go 8.30 and GNW at 9.30 plugging the hole that ten have on monday and thats the post GNW slot.

  2. I guess with timeshift figures being added to the ratings this year, maybe TEN’s sunday lineup wont be whooped all that bad. A week later when timeshift ratings are added, the premiers could do well. Same with late night House and Medium.
I guess thats what TEN would be hoping for anyway…
    Now for seven and nine….

  3. The best eps are coming up for Outrageous Fortune from ep 10 onwards so I’m glad they are keeping it in the schedule! 🙂

Ten should pick up Chelsea Lately for late nights.

  4. Well this is the worst thing TEN could do for Sunday night. It will be slaughtered by the Australian Open. TEN wake up to yourselves. You have also just killed the return of House. Wrong Wrong Wrong. If it were the following week i would have applauded them to moving it there but against the competition its just plain Wrong!

As for the rest of the week its what i expected except for Dance all week. That is show overload and i dont think it will do well at all. Then again i could be wrong.

7pm Project is a complete waste of space and needs to go. Its ratings will hurt TEN and until they wake up to themselves and realise this i hope it fails and fails miserably.

Fridays are different which is good.

  5. Far too much dance though my mum will be happy but good they are going to bring back Army Wives even though 12:30 is extremely late and they are keeping Outrageous Fortunes but FFS get rid of 7pm Project repeats.

  6. Looks like I’ll be watching a lot less television this year if this schedule is anything to go by.

But TBL on Monday night better not run over time into GNW, then I won’t be happy

  7. Why oh why oh why do they insist with The 7pm project…? It really is awful, it will be pummelled against 2 and a half men repeats, give one of them contract, give them a late night show and pair it up with letterman, then at least people won’t be pi**y for Channel 10 delaying Letterman, who is by far the best late night show host right now, and nearly the best ever.

If they do that, I don’t have to see people lose weight… during primetime. Australia should be better than America at something… even if it is a bad thing.

Also, House on Sunday…??? What the hell is that? Does noone at 10 remember that like a year or so ago, House dominated the Wednesday 8:30 timeslot…?

Seriously… who is in charge of programming at Channel 10? He/she is the Australian equivalent of Jeff Zucker.

  8. ooh! it’s interesting that they have kept the 7pm Project and will be putting Biggest Loser at 7.30pm. I think that’s a great idea! I don’t like the 10pm Medium start on Thursday but hopefully it gets 9.30pm the week after.

  9. so TBYG isn’t going to sunday, i guess that puts it in a 8:30 slot somewhere else. and where to for the good wife?

House to Sunday is a strange move.

  10. Great to see the Star Wars movies returning to television for another screening. After recently seeing Family Guy’s Something Something Something Dark Side, my interest in the franchise has been renewed. Maybe they might play Clone Wars movie too, but who would be excited about that.

Also, is it just me or is there way too much So You Think You Can Dance. I know its audition period but I could get bored. Has anyone realised that come two months time, Natalie Bassingthwaighte will be on two networks at once (Nine’s Underbelly and Ten’ SYTYCDA)

Considering the trouble that Ten has been in over axing shows over the summer, this schedule is probably as good as they could have made it. I’m guessing shows like Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation and The Good Wife will premiere after the SYTYCDA Auditions Week.

  11. i wish ten would wake up and realize that the 7pm project is a failure and axe it and put the biggest looser on at its original time of 7pm because i am very afraid that up aginst sevens strong performing factuals the biggest loser will really be the biggest looser

  12. It’s a good line-up but not a great line-up. It seems Ten has not learned from 2009 when the second season premiere of SYTYCD was beaten by Australian Open men’s singles final between Federer and Nadal (which went down to the wire) and the one-day cricket from Perth. It looks like history will repeat itself.
