Baldwin released from hospital after strange 911 call

Alec Baldwin is headed back to work on 30 Rock following a brief but bizarre hospital visit after his daughter Ireland called paramedics saying he was in an ‘unresponsive’ state.

Baldwin was released from hospital just an hour after being admitted.

A spokesperson said, “This was a misunderstanding on one person’s part. Alec was quickly released from the hospital, he’s completely fine and will be at work today.”

A police source allegedy said that the actor had had a ‘bad reaction’ after taking the sedative Ambien.

Baldwin and Ireland had reportedly argued and she told 911 he had threatened to take pills, claims the Daily Mail.

According to a report from the New York Post, the initial 911 call came in as a “possible alcohol or drug overdose.” Sources told the newspaper that while he never actually ingested sleeping pills, Baldwin threatened to take them during the argument.

One friend said the hospital trip was unnecessary and even blamed actress ex-wife Kim Basinger for causing trouble.

Speaking to the New York Daily News last night, he said Baldwin “didn’t need to go to the hospital, but he knew that if he didn’t, it would create an incident.

“So he fully cooperated and went. They saw that he was totally fine and released him.”

But another report suggests that Ireland was not with her father in New York at the time of the 911 call, speculating that she called from Los Angeles, and seemingly refuting earlier reports that she found her father unresponsive.

Baldwin will also be co-hosting the 2010 Academy Awards with Steve Martin in March.
