Biggest Loser’s Geoff quits

By David Knox on February 8, 2010 / Filed Under News 7

56 year old Geoff Ibbs quit The Biggest Loser last night, following a health scare which saw him hospitalised earlier.

His exit was attributed to the result of medical advice.

According to news.com.au, Gibbs was sent for medical treatment after his blood pressure dropped and his kidney function slowed. The rheumatoid arthritis sufferer also contracted a Staph A septicaemia infection in hospital and had to stay a further 10 days. When he returned to the show he collapsed again.

A TEN spokesperson said, “Geoff faced a tough decision, he could continue his weight-loss journey under the strict medical care and restrictions of The Biggest Loser or he could return home to work with his local GP and adapt all that he had learnt into his life.

“Geoff made the brave decision to return home.”

But his hospitalisation and exit required further editing and adjustment to the show’s gameplay. While his teammate Wayne remains on the show as a single competitor, one of the next eliminated contestants will be given the opportunity to join him.

Ibbs has praised the show for instilling a “life-changing” training regiment and paid tribute to host Hayley Lewis. He will also return for the show’s finale.

The Biggest Loser has already undergone major changes to its format this year, following the surprise exit of two contestants, removed from the series after police charged one with two counts of possession of child exploitation material.

    Why Hayley Lewis,

She isn’t very nice. She is very plastic on the show! I won’t be bothering to watch the biggest loser any more!

I would like to know if anyone else noticed that once Jen left (after being eliminated) Haylee was talking to the constestants about what was now going to happen, and it cut to a scene of phoebe and Jen was there again standing behind her – but, in the next frame – she was gone again!!!

I think there was an editing error here somewhere guys! lol!

someone quit days before he did….Me as a viewer, I used to love Biggest Loser but they ruined it by condensing two weeks into two days and trying to cut out the unwanted contesant footage just made it a jumbled mess that I couldn’t follow.

They still havn’t learned from last year, their “later this week” promos frequently gave away the answer as to who the eliminated contestants were, before the monday night elimination episode.

They didn’t actually spoil this weeks elimination result, due to the twist of the game as a result of Geoff leaving the game due to his health (one person from the eliminated pair being allowed to stay on and join the remaining red team member).

But it’s clearly out of 1 person or the other from the respective teams as they showed one person from team blue, and another from team black in the promo.

Granted it doesn’t give much away, from this stand point it’s down to two.
