Chris Meloni’s SVU exit: quotes were legit

In a further development on the curious case of Chris Meloni supposedly planning to leave Law and Order: SVU, now it has emerged the quotes published by the Courier Mail recently were genuine.

“I think 12 years is enough, a good number,” Meloni told The Courier-Mail.

“The writers will have fertile ground to figure out how to arc him (Elliot) out to another place – whether it’s this world or the next.”

The quotes, which indicated an exit at the end of next year’s series, were given to writer Geoff Shearer during a visit to the show.

The Courier-Mail story was picked up by several US media sites.

But not long after being published, it was denied by Producer Neal Baer via his Twitter.

Today The Australian has noted the confusion and writes, “the story was solid.”

That would seem to put the ball back in the court of producers, again….
