Molly joins Mardi Gras telecast

Molly Meldrum has joined Foxtel’s line-up for the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade to air on Arena.

Meldrum joins Charlotte Dawson, Bob Downe, Julie McCrossin and drag queen Mitzi Macintosh.

As “official party reporter” he will be chatting to VIP guests from the base at Taylor’s Square.

“Mardi Gras Sydney is a world calendar event with people coming from across the globe to attend, so I am delighted to be a part of Foxtel’s live coverage,” he said.

“A number of years back I took part in the parade on the Melbourne Marching Boys’ float, as they were doing a special ‘Tribute to Molly’. It was an absolute hoot but exhausting, so it will be nice to be participating on a different level this year.”

Meldrum was recently announced as King of Moomba, jokingly acknowledging the Queen’s tiara went to singer Kate Ceberano.

It airs live on Arena from 7.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday, February 27.
