Ooops. Live cross exposure.

By David Knox on February 2, 2010 / Filed Under News 33

Ooops…

An office worker at Macquarie Private Wealth must have forgotten about the cross Martin Lakos was doing to Seven’s Chris Bath live to air today.

The clip says it all really….

Irony of it all, it the newsflash was during the 2pm repeat of MKR… The only way that show will ever be interesting!
Problem is, they cut straight into the show, saying they’ll think they’d go up, yet Nine had a bulletin at the same time saying they were the same. Bit late there 7.

It’s so good when something like this happens. These paid-for promo (CommBank/MacBank/Westpac ads?) live crosses are a joke when a reporter/news reader could just read out the same info from the studio.

Live backgrounds with people moving around are just a pointless distraction to what’s being described most of the time. The more streakers running though and kids showing the bird during live crosses the better I say. Just a matter of time before it becomes a social phenomenon and the networks are made to deliver news seriously rather than using these segments as a cheap $-raising time filler. Bring it on.

P.S. The Australian has revealed the guy who was looking at the Miranda Kerr pics as David Kiely, client investment manager at Macquarie Private Wealth. The paper says Kiely will meet with the bank’s executives this week to determine his future.

The video has now been watched more than 200,000 times, and reported by the media outlets around the world.

I don’t believe how this has exploded, they just spent 2 minutes on it on the TEN evening news.

Tracy Grimshaw must have tried hard to keep herself from laughing. That guy will So get sacked!

PS. I missed the 7PM Project commenting on it. Is it on YouTube?

  7. Bella February 3, 2010 at 12:56 pm -

hehe. Interesting that Macquarie’s email system let that through.

Does anyone remember the american CNN guy getting busted checking out his fantasy baseball league results on air during coverage of elections in 08? CNN sets up a panel of 4-10 experts with their laptops all crunching the numbers and I guess a colleague realised on playback he didn’t actually have tally results but baseball stats…..wish i could remember the guy’s name although not quite as obvious as half naked model picks.

Im guessing this guy will get a stern talking to if he hasn’t got one already. I wouldn’t think it would be appropriate to look at that sort of material at any workplace let alone at a big one like Maquarie. He must feel very foolish being sprung.

I’d say a formal warning will be placed on this idiot’s personnel file this morning

  12. VMan February 3, 2010 at 1:17 am -

Hahaha! I love how he looks behind and realises that the whole country just saw him looking at porn! He must’ve been like…F*$%!!!!!

  13. Daniel G February 3, 2010 at 1:09 am -

I laughed out loud at the last two seconds of that cross!
I hope the poor guy doesn’t get sacked, but at least gets a stern talking to.

    News Flash indeed.

This is an absolute disgrace to Macquarie Bank – as if staff would not be aware of the possibility (or certainty) of a live cross to the Seven Network – a real professional outfit there!!!.

haha saw this on the 7pm Project too.

  17. mikeys February 2, 2010 at 11:12 pm -

Haha pretty funny! Hope he doesn’t get fired… They need a flashing ‘on air’ light.

  18. timmy February 2, 2010 at 11:08 pm -

Haha, I noticed on Ten’s late news just now, all the screens were turned off except for one… not sure if that’s normal at this time of night or a reaction to today’s event.

  19. Jerome February 2, 2010 at 10:50 pm -

lmao, it is just the cherry on top that in the last second he shows his face.

  20. Johnson February 2, 2010 at 10:13 pm -

The Australian online has confirmed the guy was looking at the pics of Miranda Kerr’s recent photoshoot from GQ magazine. Macquarie said it was now investigating the matter.

  21. Craig February 2, 2010 at 9:49 pm -

Yeah saw this in ACA, I mean really did they need to do that, they are so petty!

As for the guy, I guess he’ll be give a firm talking too

  22. Dr_Rudi February 2, 2010 at 9:48 pm -

Well, it looks like he’s viewing photos from an email, in which case whoever sent them to him should clearly have labelled the email NSFW. Even then, after looking at the first you’d be a fool to open the second image. Surely he can expect a visit from Macquarie’s HR department in the morning. And, I suspect the IT department will be quarantining the back-up tape for future use.

You should put it up with the one you have now.

  27. Stan February 2, 2010 at 8:06 pm -

If this was on Lateline Business then that lovely group of baby boomers, otherwise known as ‘The Friends Of The ABC’ would rather get their knickers in a twist over that large Macquarie logo than Miranda Kerr (??). :)

  28. Daniel February 2, 2010 at 7:48 pm -

    Bahaha owned!

  29. Matt J February 2, 2010 at 7:19 pm -

    bahahahahahhhahahahahaha

  30. Jason D. February 2, 2010 at 6:56 pm -

This is a classic one for the ages. At least one employee’s interest rate had certainly risen.

  31. Ryano February 2, 2010 at 6:55 pm -

Our unsuspecting Macquarie office worker appears to have been viewing the lovely Miranda Kerr in US GQ magazine.

  32. Barrie February 2, 2010 at 6:51 pm -

  33. Kuttsywood February 2, 2010 at 6:49 pm -

There are people predicting this clip will reach 1 million views.

At least it is moving the Hitchener seagull incident out of the way.

It’ll Probably end up on Media Watch!
