So is Christopher Meloni staying put or planning to leave SVU?

According to a Courier Mail story on Saturday, he’s leaving at the end of next season: “One of TV’s best-loved crime fighting couples will part ways within the year with Chris Meloni confirming he would walk away from the role of Detective Elliot Stabler after season 12 of Law & Order SVU.”

But according to Law & Order: SVU executive produce Neal Baer, Meloni is staying put.

Asked by a fan if the star would be leaving his role as Detective Eliot Stabler after the show’s twelfth season, Baer simply said via  Twitter, “No.”

He followed it up by telling a fan, “Don’t believe everything you read in the papers!”

The Courier-Mail story, which quoted Meloni recently saying “12 years is enough,” has moved its URL, but remains online here.

The story was also picked up by numerous US media websites.

They’re probably planning a shock exit for him, that or Chris is just saying it to get more money to be resigned.
