Tears for Dance

In So You Think You Can Dance there are tears when they get the gig, and more tears when they are cut.

In So You Think You Can Dance Australia there are tears when they get the gig, and more tears when they are cut.

Last night B-Boy Gaz couldn’t hold back the emotion as he was eliminated, along with Mikhaela in the show’s second live elimination. He struggled to fight the tears as he thanked the show for giving him the opportunity.

Meanwhile one dancer, Matt was seen on crutches, following a largely-unexplained accident that clearly happened since the record for Wednesday’s heat. It might have helped the audience understand what took place, and indeed what the ramifications could be, if the show had bothered to fill in the blanks a bit more. It was lucky Matt didn’t have to “dance for his life” last night…

Dance also unveiled another of its prizes: a contract on Jason Gilkinson’s Burn The Floor touring company.

  1. i just think of poor Natalie Bassingthwaighte now whenever someone is eliminated and i hope she’s got tissues on stand by backstage…

    “…when a dancer’s journey ends, it’s awful..” 🙂

  2. According to SYTYCD website, Matt was injured during rehearsals for the group routine on either Tuesday or Wednesday, resulting in a bruised and swollen ankle (peroneal tendon injury). He was unable to point or flex his toes without being in agony. 2008 runner-up Rhys Borbidge, who was assistant to choreographer Jason Gilkison, took Matt’s place.
