Who is the front runner for the Gold Logie?

Online gambling websites have Rebecca Gibney as the front runner for the 2010 Gold Logie. But who else?

Rebecca Gibney is the favourite to win the 2010 Gold Logie -at least according to one online gambling website.

Her biggest competition is Rove McManus and Adam Hills.

Following behind are Ray Meagher, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Rodger Corser, Jolene Anderson, Sonia Kruger, Daniel MacPherson while Eddie McGuire, Michael Caton and Grant Denyer have very long odds.

A separate website also lists Rebecca Gibney, Rove McManus, Adam Hills, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and
Ray Meagher but adds Shaun Micallef and Hugh Sheridan to the top picks.

So do gambling website know television as well as viewers?

Recently the results of the TV Tonight Awards selected the following names as 2009 favourites.

FAVOURITE MALE: Shaun Micallef
Rove McManus, Adam Hills, Hugh Sheridan, Hamish Blake, Matt Preston

FAVOURITE FEMALE: Rebecca Gibney
Julia Zemiro, Jessica Marais, Carrie Bickmore, Myf Warhurst, Kat Stewart

We should know how accurate predictions are when Gold Logie nominations are announced probably later in March.

Look for the 2010 battle to be between Rebecca Gibney, Adam Hills and Shaun Micallef.

  1. lanblair23, i agree with you. Early May is too late for an award ceremony that is for the previous year. It should be earlier (but February may be too early for us). Should be March. Voting in January. Count up the votes in February. Awards in March.

Just as long as Kate Ritchie isn’t there on the Gold Nominees list, i would be happy

  2. Does anyone know the reason why the Logies are held in May? I would personally like to see them move to February where, just like the Emmys, it kicks off the ratings year.

oh and as for the Gold Logie, my head says Gibney but my heart says Micallef.

  3. I’m sure that these betting agencies have looked at existing popularity polls of which Rebecca Gibney rates highly in terms of popularity. Hamish Blake also rates highly in popularity polls and surveys however Gibney has been around for a while as opposed to Blake. I think they will most likely give the gold logie to a veteran personality.

  4. people are forgetting the all saints. only 600k watched ian smiths final episode, and only 500k watched simmone jade mckinnons final ep of mcleods in it’s summer saturday midnight slotand they still got nominated. the gold logie loves signoffs (also kate ritche, john wood) and with almost 1.6 watching the final as i rekon they will atleast get one nom if not more hopefully judith mcgrath.

my theory would also put rove in with a hot chance. and snooping on the home and away boards their vote (which is a very powerful vote) seems to have gone from kate ritchie last year to esther anderson <so she's probably in with a good chance too.

since rebecca won last year i voted and hope jessica marais gets it this year, she is a great actress, and a very classy woman, she has a big future ahead of her.

  5. I can see Gibney, Micalleff, Rove, Adam Hills, Jess Mairas and Bassingthwaite up for Gold Logie. The other 2 nods will be a surprise i reckon (one of the Masterchef judges?) and another person
