The ABC has backtracked from plans to give ABC3 the World Premiere of Dead Gorgeous, its new Australian-produced children’s drama.

The spooky series about 3 girls who died in 1861 but return to their estate as ghosts 150 years later will instead launch on ABC1.

Produced by Burberry Productions, the series features Melissa Howard (Rebecca), Poppy Lee Friar (Sophie), Alexandra Coppinger (Hazel), Blake Davis (Jonathan), Chris Milligan (David), Jay Kennedy Harris (Charlie), Aisha Dee (Christine), Gerry Connolly (Mr Griffith), Julie Forsyth (Haiwyn Sinclaire) and Julie Eckersley (Agatha Heggleby).

It begins 5:20pm Monday April 5th on ABC1 and is replayed from 8pm April 13 on ABC3.

Dead Gorgeous follows the comical adventures of three beautiful, strong-willed teenage sisters Rebecca (Melissa Howard), Sophie (Poppy Lee Friar) and Hazel Ainsworth (Alexandra Coppinger) who just happen to be ghosts!

When the three sisters died in a tragic coach accident in 1861, alongside their beloved nanny Mildred, they thought it was obviously some sort of cosmic ‘glitch’.

Taking matters into her own hands, Rebecca makes an application to the Ghost Council, the high court of the afterlife, requesting them to return her and her sisters back to the world of the living. But the afterlife is much like real life, bureaucracy is slow and forms get lost or misfiled. For the sisters, the wait was 150 years, stuck in limbo.

Upon their return to the estate, the girls quickly realise their home has been turned into a school. They now find themselves in a world unbeknown to them, and under the watchful eye of their colourful, ghostly guardian – Agatha (Julie Eckersley). The sisters can stay under one circumstance – no one is to find out their secret otherwise they will be sent back to the afterlife.

  1. As of today 22nc April dead gorgeous is not on abc free to air tv in melbourne – Is this bc season one has finished? I didn’t see any advertising on this – Can you tell me dates when Dead Gorgeous will resume on the ABC?

    I love this show it’s absolutely brilliant!

  6. hey im pretty sure its walking through the walls, i wouldn’t have is any other way……
    not looking through the walls cause they can walk u know. So anyway i love this to
    think its heaps made love the language in the olden days british accent. Kings and Queens i also love Merlin and Hary Potter hence then name. Just finished watching the last episode, don’t wanna wait till the next season. Is it that jonathan likes rebecca but Rebecca likes david, but david loves football and doesn’t like anything else?? I love hazel she’s so cute and bubbly, and Sophie so quite and used to her 150 yr old self and life.

  17. OMG! I love this show. I love all the characters, especially David, Jonathan and Rebecca. It’s the best show on ABC in ages.

  18. I think Dead Gorgeous is the besst show on ABC 3, I watch every episode and I think it is awesome, I wish it was on more. My favorite charactor is Hazel and I put her name on my DS.

  19. A great show. The girls are especially terrific. It’s lovely to watch the way they connect with each other in such a gentle and believable way.

  23. im suprised but every happy that there are soo many followers of this show im not sure about the other states but i live in NSW and abc only just started to show the series and couples of days ago. The people who are saying that this is a bad show are just being rude because these three yound actors ..have got a show and honestly i think your just jealous i know they cant please everyone and you may be those couple of people who dont like this series but if you dont like it. Then be polite because its a unique idea for a show and it is entertaining.

  25. I love your show, but I still think Sophie is a little bit scared of the life she has found. Hazel is more sensible and Rebecca is a little bit funny and a sort of social butterfly. I am only 8 but I can understand all the action. I really want to get the DVD.
