Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson will appear on the new season of Hey Hey it’s Saturday in place of Molly Meldrum.
Meldrum is unable to appear due to his contract with Seven / Foxtel.
While the Australian Idol judge will appear on the first episode, it seems no deal is yet done.
I hope they make the most of this and pepper his segment with those Marcia Hines grabs, “Right on Daryl & Ossie” and “This show is deep.”
The Daily Telegraph notes Daryl Somers is believed to have successfully lured back Ernie Carroll as Ossie Ostrich, Livinia Nixon and Jackie Macdonald.
The show returns in April.

Cripes – I don’t rate Dicko but so far he’s the most watchable thing in the cast. Frakkin’ awful show…

Why did they have to have this halfwit on Hey Hey It’s Saturday? I was so looking forward to the show returning after all this time but with him involved I don’t think I’ll be so sure in watching.
I’m a bit shocked that Daryl managed to lure both Jacki and Ernie back.
Especially Ernie who must have enjoyed his retirement….wouldn’t it have been better to revamp the show slightly with new people on it?
Oh well, be interesting to see how things go – although I doubt Harry Connic Jnr will appear on it ever again!
For a minute there I thought Dicko had a modicum of dignity left, but it appears not so. Thinking about the return of HHIS makes me feel a little queasy.
Can’t do all the dated gay jokes on DIcko though ….
Jackie is back and the puppet! that’s great, I will watch.

He’d also be with Marcia again in a sense (assuming they play her grabs).

That’s actually not a bad decision. I think he will fit well.
He should be one of the judges on Red Faces for the first episode.
Who knows? For the first couple of episodes, they might just try different people for the segment and see how well they mix with the cast.
I was surprised when i saw the headline, but then i thought about it… It could just work out.
You will probably find that Nine will see how things go in the first ep before deciding to give him a contract .
