GLAAD about Brothers & Sisters

Brothers and Sisters has again been named the top drama series for gay and lesbian representation in the latest GLAAD Media Awards.

America’s Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) handed out 24 of its 32 Media Awards in New York on the weekend.

It was the 21st event for the advocacy group, but there are still two more ceremonies to come in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Brothers & Sisters was named the best drama for representation of GLBTi characters for the fourth time in a row (…the 4th straight win?).

Amongst the television winners were:

Outstanding Drama Series: Brothers & Sisters (ABC)
Outstanding TV Movie or Mini-Series: Prayers for Bobby (Lifetime)
Outstanding TV Journalism Segment: “Why Will Won’t Pledge Allegiance” American Morning (CNN)
Outstanding Individual Episode: “Pawnee Zoo” Parks and Recreation(NBC)
Outstanding Daily Drama: One Life to Live (ABC)
Outstanding Talk Show Episode: “Ellen DeGeneres and Her Wife, Portia de Rossi” The Oprah Winfrey Show (syndicated)
Outstanding TV Journalism – Newsmagazine: “Uganda Be Kidding Me” (series) The Rachel Maddow Show(MSNBC)

Excellence in Media Award: Joy Behar
Vito Russo Award: Cynthia Nixon

  1. Gees, U think people would be happy supporters get recognised.

    I think Bro and Sis does represent GLAAD issues. Not all shows portray these characters in a positive light!

  2. GLAAD awards are pretty sad, every year it’s basically a search for anyone who’s been remotely supportive of the gay community and when the outstanding drama award goes to Brother & Sisters, well, nuff said right?
