Hotel damage linked to actor

Another awkward media article for Matthew Newton today alleges a hotel room was left with a repair bill of more than $4000.

Another awkward media article for Matthew Newton today in News Ltd papers, under the headline “Actor ‘trashed room'” alleges a room at the Cullen Hotel in South Yarra was left with a repair bill of more than $4000.

The Sunday Herald Sun reports the Underbelly actor had been staying at the hotel with his girlfriend, Transformers star Rachael Taylor, for ten days between February and March during the filming of Face To Face with Vince Colosimo.

It alleges there are punched holes in the wall and damage to glass in the bathroom.

Newton’s agent Titus Day issued a statement saying, “The production company organised the room and paid for it.

“He and Rachael paid the incidentals on the way out on Rachael’s card and the room was fine when they went in and fine when they left.”

But in a statement a senior hotel manager said: “We can confirm an incident took place and, no, police were not notified.”

Last November, Newton apologised for damage caused at the Vibe Hotel in Rushcutters Bay following the GQ Man of the Year Awards.
