More revelations on Hey Dad!

Updated: The actress who replaced Sarah Monahan on Hey Dad! has given a magazine interview while Seven denies claims it paid for interviews.

The actress who replaced Sarah Monahan on Hey Dad! has given a story to Woman’s Day, to be published tomorrow.

Former actress Angela Keep, replaced Monahan as Jenny aged 12, in 1993.

Her interview follows one with Monahan in the magazine which has spilled out into wider media, mostly on current affairs television.

As NSW Police ask for victims to come forward, statements from a former guest actor, wardrobe assistant, a relative of the man at the centre of the storm and several family friends have been lodged.

Some of the allegations to emerge relate to incidents on the set of the sitcom, others allegedly took place in the man’s home.

Meanwhile a “furious” Seven CEO David Leckie is said to have offered actress Simone Buchanan a six-figure sum for an interview with Today Tonight instead of A Current Affair. But Buchanan sat side by side with Monahan on Nine on Thursday.

By Friday night Seven had a story targetting agent Steven Moriarty with suggestions he had pocketed $40,000 for interview deals with cast members of over $200,000. But TT has paid for plenty of interviews liaised with agents before. Was it genuinely interested in the matter of witnesses going to media before police, or was Seven smarting over the face it had lost key inteviews to Nine?

Looks like Media Watch will be busy tomorrow night…

UPDATED:

Statement from David Leckie, CEO, Seven Media Group:
Today’s reports that I – or Seven – offered money to anyone in relation to claims surrounding “Hey Dad” are completely wrong. They are incorrect. It did not happen. Seven should have been asked before the claims were published.

Nine and Woman’s Day have paid for the story. We were not offered it. We made this clear to The Sunday Telegraph when asked about this yesterday afternoon.

Statement from Craig McPherson, National Executive Producer, Today Tonight.

Today Tonight did not offer one cent to any of the former “Hey Dad” cast members represented by Stephen Moriarty who was given numerous opportunities to refute or deny claims made by Today Tonight – but he declined the opportunity – prior to the programme’s broadcast on Friday.

Nobody from The Sunday Telegraph contacted myself or anyone from Today Tonight on the claims published today.

Friday night’s report on Today Tonight was triggered by the growing concerns of police and the legal fraternity that publicly airing evidence via payment while delaying making an official police complaint will be an obstacle in any prosecution case.
