Returning: Private Practice

By David Knox on March 9, 2010 / Filed Under Programming 17

Seven will return Private Practice to air soon, coming to Tuesday nights.

It’s back at 9:30pm Tuesday March 23rd with S3E11 “Another Second Chance,” part of a crossover episode with Grey’s Anatomy which airs at 8:30pm.

Meanwhile as My Kitchen Rules heads towards its finish line Seven also has longer eps coming, starting with a 90 minute episode next Tuesday, pushing Grey’s Anatomy to 9pm.

On Monday March 22nd there are  TBAs with Brothers and Sisters locked in for 10pm instead of 9:30pm.

The return of Private Practice probably means Brothers and Sisters will resume its single episodes on Mondays instead of the current two per week, but this is yet to be confirmed.

@ Jerome, Yes I was talking about DWTS. You are right it would have helped with the ratings, but it also annoyed some viewers. fair call about that though!

parenthood isn’t looking good in the US. a big drop down to 2.6 from the already disapointing premier. it was even beaten by the Good Wife which has been struggling for weeks and got 2.8.

Any chance W can the first series of the show?

I agree Kyall. The soft launch of Parenthood says more about NBC’s failure to lauch a hit show, rather than the quality of the show. Seven should have no problem launching a quality show like Parenthood off the high rating and compatible Packed to the Rafters.

Good to see Private Practice back for the crossover. Hopefully Seven or SevenTwo can repeat the last episode somewhere to remind us (okay me) what happened.

LOL at everyone talking about Parenthood. Watched the pilot and it was fantastic. And while the premiere was a little soft, it’s lead in was diminished due to an extended American Idol but had extremely strong retention and is still NBC’s #2 scripted show behind only The Office.

Thanks David it’s that Tasmanian thing again. It was shown on the mainland and not Tasmania. I just thought we automatically see what is broadcast from channel 7 on Southern Cross.

Guess I’ll be using up my frequent flier miles to catch Parenthood until Seven decides to bring it here, I hope the ratings pickup as I like it and think the idea has legs and could be the next B&S.

I’ve been calling for a pairing with the Rafter since I first heard Seven had the rights. I just hope it lasts it 13 ep order, NBC doesn’t have the best track record of late.

I am told CDWM aired at 3pm yesterday.

Any news on when Come Dine With Me is returning? As many TV guides stated it was supposed to be back yesterday and I recorded it at 3.00pm and got an infomercial.

Is there any reason why Seven have been showing Brothers & Sisters twice a week, besides maybe to fill up the timeslot?? It’s not as if it’s being fasttracked…

Just seems weird to me how they’re “burning off” all the episodes.

I for one am happy B&S is going back to one episode a week…with so many good shows on now across the networks, it’s becoming a bigger investment of time to watch all my favourite shows…once a week is perfect. Still, that time that B&S is vacating is now being used with PP, which I also watch! Can’t win! ;-)

Nik C, i assume you are talking about DWTS?

the DWTS lead in of up to 2.6million gave All saints some of it’s biggest ratings of the series, probably gave the show an extra 5 years. far from the reason it was killed.

if anything, it was killed as a result of DWTS moving away from Tuesdays. with rafters not rating as well as DWTS.

i’d be expecting parenthood around july around when rafters returns, but it is an NBC show so it’s chances of making primetime in Australia are slim especially if the US ratings slip much from it’s mediocre premier of 3.1.

7 hasn’t held many US shows back this year so they will have a lot of slots to fill around then.

  16. Nik C March 9, 2010 at 2:22 pm -

@ Craig: Rafters will return mid year.

I knew PP was returning when GA caught up, but why push B&S about. It will just irritate the fans.

And now we are back to Tuesday dramas moving due to Reality shows!!! Isn’t this what killed All Saints in the end with viewers turing off! and now they might do it on Mondays and Tuesdays!!! This Is Ridiculous.
(I do not care about a cooking show) They only brought it out coz masterchef workied. they could have perservered with My Restaurant rules, if they were that keen!!!

    What about the Rafters?

Also any news on Parenthood, it had a soft premier ratings wise in the US, considering the promotion NBC had done but it was still 20 more than Leno at 10pm and the critics for the most part love it. Seven needs to air this ASAP!
