The Young and the Restless star to visit in April

Melody Thomas Scott, who has played Nikki Newman on The Young and the Restless since 1979 will visit Australia for the W channel.

Melody Thomas Scott, who has played Nikki Newman on The Young and the Restless since 1979 will visit Australia in April on a promotional tour for the W channel.

Scott has something of a classic feature film upbringing having made her motion picture debut at age eight when cast by Alfred Hitchcock as the young Tippi Hedren in the thriller Marnie. At 13, she co-starred with Clint Eastwood and Geraldine Page in The Beguiled. While still a teenager, she starred opposite such stars as John Wayne in The Shootist, again with Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry, in Posse, opposite Kirk Douglas, who also directed her, and in Brian DePalma’s The Fury.

She has also appeared on The Nanny, Diagnosis: Murder and The King of Queens.

The Young and the Restless premiered in Australia on the Nine Network in 1975  but has been on W Channel since 2007.

  1. W shouldn’t have brought back General Hospital, instead it should’ve aired Days of Our Lives at 12:50pm from July 5 2010, after The Young and the Restless!

  2. Hey, leave The Young and the Restless where it is, airing weekdays at Noon on W! Y&R doesn’t belong in its old timeslot of 2pm weekdays on 9 and neither does Days! All that needs to happen is to ensure that 9 drops Days of Our Lives on Friday June 17, the same day that W is dropping General Hospital! From Monday June 20, Days of Our Lives should air directly after The Young and the Restless, weekdays at 12:50pm on W!

  3. Foxtel and channel 9 in australia melbourne – you should be ashamed of your selves for making people pay to watch young and the restless,, all this time it had a great following for so many years on channel 9, then after almost 20 years and more you decided to view it on foxtel , replaced it with a ridiculous show, and in the end you have no customers willing to sighn up to foxtel to watch it, canned the replacement show because “no one” is watching channel 9 and three years on you still cant get it right.. Put “young and the restless where it belongs. Back to its 2.00pm days and get over it,,, how disapointing channel 9.

  4. I was one of the 5 Y&R WChannel/TV WEEK winners who got to meet Melody aka Nikki Newman in person and she is absolutely lovely. I am so happy to have had that chance to meet her in real life. Even though it was only Monday (12/4/10 it seems like a while ago already. I have watched the show since I was 9 and was so mad when it left Channel nine, I didn’t even realise that it was on cable for a while but as soon as I did I ad to get it so that I could continue to watch it, it is my one and only soap and it’s the best. Thanks so much Melody for coming to Australia and thanks to TV Week and the W Channel for having the competition and for picking me. Tanya.

  5. I started watching Y&R again about six months ago and I’ve been enthalled by the intricate storys and fantasticly talented cast both young and old. The thing I love is that so many of the characters started on the show in their teens or early twenties and are still there with great storylines. Y&R uses it’s history better than any other saop. I’d go so far as to it’s the best soap writing I’ve seen in many a year. Days and B&B, look like pantomimes in comaprison.
