Looks like the melb storms gave the 6pm news a boost. over 450k on seven!
What happened to Today on saturdays!? Whooped by sunrise! lol
What movie was on seven after sister act in syd/bris?

Has a digital multichannel program ever made the top 30 before?

Ja’mie. sunrise aren’t winning like they use to. today has caught sunrise and they will beat them on a regular basis. sunrise is a dead show

  4. aznfratboy March 7, 2010 at 5:32 pm -

@ dean TEN use to air sitcom repeats and such, shows like Just Shoot Me, Seinfeld, Two Guys and a Girl, Simpsons, Raymond, Futurama among others. This was also during their 5-night-a-week reality assault. When a reality show ended, sitcoms would repeat, then the reality TV show would come back. The beauty of sitcoms is they nearly always skew young, which advertisers love, and you don’t get tired of them as fast, because “real” people don’t go through as many “adventures” as the fake people inside your radiation emitting box. Personally, I’d like the sitcom genre back at 7pm, it would be much cheaper I’d assume, then the 7pm project, then their reality shows restricted to maybe two 1 hr time slots during the week, I mean, is fat people losing weight that interesting? I see that in the park everyday…

  5. Ja'mie March 7, 2010 at 2:41 pm -

Today’s reign as #1 looks to have been short lived, and inflated by the olympics. A solid win for sunrise on Friday, capping off a win for the week.

  6. dave March 7, 2010 at 2:38 pm -

@ Dean – i think from memory Seinfeld was in the 7pm slot before 2001; but it could also have been The Simpsons!

whats the bet that 72’s ratings on saturday night will decide the winner this week?

  8. Nick March 6, 2010 at 1:13 am -

“Hungry Beast. It doesn’t deserve the premium timeslot it has”

Yup, it’s a kids show. Reminds me of Behind the News. Should be on at midday on ABC3.

  9. darryn March 5, 2010 at 7:24 pm -

@tas dev, there is a big difference between critiquing a show and slandering it because it is on a particular network.

  10. Vicky March 5, 2010 at 6:12 pm -

Nelly – Ellen showed it on her show yesterday. Try finding it on you tube.

If you don’t want to read hate comments, then don’t. People should be free to express their opinion whether it’s negative or positive. It would be a boring forum if everyone was forced to only post about the shows they like.

On the topic of The IT Crowd and its low figures, I blame it all on Hungry Beast. It doesn’t deserve the premium timeslot it has, which is where either The IT Crowd or Sleuth 101 should go. Their ratings would be a lot higher if Hungry Beast wasn’t in the way. It’s the same story as Ten with the 7pm Project.

Just a question from left field David. How is Mercy rating on 7two

  13. messy March 5, 2010 at 4:02 pm -

@ Ryan…I loved Law and Order last night and I have watched it for a long time now. I switched over to dance for the last 45mins whilst waiting for L&O and just could not believe how they drag that show on so much.
IMO it is a very ordinary show mainly because of the presenter and some of the annoying judges. You have a “screamer”, OMG…..two “hat” dudes, WT? and a compere who is way out of her league. It just doesn’t flow. Maybe thats why people are not watching like they used to.

  14. dean March 5, 2010 at 3:27 pm -

    SYTYCD is stale and boring
TBL is also stale and boring.
I don’t see how Channel Ten can keep going with them next year.
They’ve now lost Big Brother, Idol, and if we’re lucky, SYTYCD and Biggest Loser will follow. Reality TV where one has to invest their time 5 nights a week with it is dead (except for Masterchef of course).

Ten needs to start investing in some new shows. Can anyone remember what Ten used to have on every night at 7pm before Big Brother started in 2001? I can’t remember.

  15. Nick March 5, 2010 at 3:07 pm -

Cougar Town is strangling How I Met Your Mother!! Arrrggghhhh get it off. In fact this week, HIMYM and Top Gear are the only two shows I’ve watched, The rest I’ve finally spent catching up on the TV DVD’s I got for Christmas. Better hurry before Easter…I really hope they put something decent on after Easter…

  16. ryan March 5, 2010 at 1:20 pm -

good to see dance and loser up a bit, the challange on the bl last night was intense and good to watch, tonights should be good! i love the cooking segment and the doctors advice. Dont know why law and order didnt do well cause it was an awesome episode.

  17. Stephen H March 5, 2010 at 12:14 pm -

Shame the higher ratings with 9 (Mentalist rpt) and GO (Top Gear rpt) affected the comedies. I didn’t like Cougar Town at first but it has really grew on me and How I Met Your Mother I really enjoyed last night. I don’t understand the popularity with GO it seems like the less they do the higher the ratings they get. What was the point of the 500 Million dollar deal they did with Warner Bros when they only play a few of their show?

  18. chk chk March 5, 2010 at 11:56 am -

The drop off to 20 to 1 is really significant isn’t it?

  19. V March 5, 2010 at 11:41 am -

I agree with Jed, i like 7 pm project, some nights are better than others, but for me its better than anything else on at that time. I hope they don’t get rid of it. It makes me laugh how people blame this show for other shows afterwards not doing well. Don’t people know how to change the channel anymore?

I watch 7pm but only watch biggest loser on Friday (as I really enjoy the healthy cooking segment and the Doctors health tips). I also might watch a bit Sunday and Monday. The rest of the week i could not care about, there is too much of the stupid temptations and them exercising, they should condense it into two shows a week every night is too much.

As for So You Think You Can Dance it drags on for way to long, get to the point! There is no way i am investing that kind of time in a show every week.

  20. Boogie Howser March 5, 2010 at 11:28 am -

7pm Project looks to be pulling over 100,000 extra viewers in after Neighbours some nights. That’s significant in percentage terms for Ten. Some of that would be the get-home, switch-on factor, but I’m not convinced one of Ten’s old sitcom reruns would do the same job. As for TBL I think the format is getting tired. I see no reason why MasterChef won’t pull MKR-like ratings at 7.30pm and Ten’s gamble might pay off.

  21. koverstreet March 5, 2010 at 11:09 am -

    More details:

TBL won in all the under 55 demos-I dislike this show but it seems to be doing well where it matters.

Great to see Medium win it’s slot ,it was another fantastic episode last night.

  22. Jerome March 5, 2010 at 10:32 am -

ted, you must be talking about 2.5men(R), not home and away, which won 16-39:

    6 Ppl 16-39 Network 7 Hone and Away 253,000
    7 Ppl 16-39 Network TEN The 7PM Project 248,000
    10 Ppl 16-39 Network 9 Two and a Half Men -Rpt 234,000

still, a once a month win in 16-39 is barely any more of a reason not to axe the show.

  23. darryn March 5, 2010 at 10:27 am -

@ted Cos demos mean s**t all in a country this size

  24. koverstreet March 5, 2010 at 10:22 am -

As I thought it would Getaway has picked up and it’s now getting respectable numbers.

Is the mentalist ch 9 new 2.5 men? They put it on another time because they have been losing the time slot. It seemed to have worked. Soon the mentalist will be on 3 times a week.

anyone know where the clip of ellen degeneres show and the clip of carl and lisa from Nine’s Today doing the wii thing?? i only just caught the playback on Today this morning that they showed in the USA and seemed hilarious, but cant see the full thing anywhere online that i can find.

  28. Jed March 5, 2010 at 9:16 am -

LOL @ ryan and he’s hating on 7PM Project. I hate Home and Away and i hate 2.5 Crap, so 7PM Project is what i watch. And it isn’t that bad of a program. Thursday night tv is still blah. I fell asleep at 9.30

  29. ted March 5, 2010 at 8:25 am -

7PM beats Home & Away in the 16-39 demo so why would they move it anywhere?

  30. ryan March 5, 2010 at 12:21 am -

might be interested to know neighbours beat sytycd in adelaide lol.

  31. Ja'mie March 4, 2010 at 11:06 pm -

SYTYCD is now a flop. Is it due to people tiring of the format , a timeslot/night change, the general demise of Ten, or all of the above?

Pre recording the whole dance performance show and musical acts is extremely lazy. Dancing with the Stars and Australian Idol managed to deal with live dance/singing routines quite well.

  32. ryan March 4, 2010 at 10:47 pm -

How pathetic do u get> ? the promo for 7pm 2mrw is “see hamish’s broken teeth. gee i soooo cant wait. pfff

  33. Francis March 4, 2010 at 8:52 pm -

    Oh thank god.

I do love the show and i was thrown off when i heard him say he was preforming at the mardis gras.

Thanks for clearning that up and the fact that it is still live makes me happy.

    Thanks

  34. David Knox March 4, 2010 at 8:50 pm -

Francis this year Mardi Gras split the Party from the Parade for the first time. So Mardi Gras is not over. Adam Lambert arrived in Oz today. That said, the live performer is usually prerecorded at the top of the show due to technical requirements.

  35. Francis March 4, 2010 at 8:42 pm -

So You Think You Can Dance is fake!!!

    It’s not live at all.

I am currently watching the Thursday live results show and it is fake. Not live at all.

Adam Lambert just sang his song ‘What do you want from me’ on the show and when he finished his song Natalie asked him ‘Where will you be preforming next?’ and he said ‘He’ll be at Mardi Gras this Saturday night’.

Mardi Gras is over and finished last saturday. Either he’s got the wrong day or the show is pre-recorded and then shown to us as fake ‘live’.

What is going on David? Is it live or not

  36. ryan March 4, 2010 at 6:50 pm -

@JM: less competition, and neighbours actually did really well as a lead-in when masterchef was on.

  37. andy March 4, 2010 at 6:47 pm -

Hungry Beast isn’t doing too badly, considering it airs 2 hrs later than the 7pm project and still manages to out-perform it. They both essentially skew towards the same audience so evidently, younger viewers prefer an edgier, more original take on current affairs.

  38. Goonies March 4, 2010 at 6:42 pm -

Judge Judy in primetime!? No thank you.

Because of 7PM Project, ch10 has had to run its other shows at funny times and then they do not sit in the traditional brackets of 7.00 – 7.30, 7.30 – 8.30 etc and IMO is the main reason for the ratings issues.

TBL which is supposed to be light entertainment fare gets pushed into its later bracket and then has to compete with everyone else rather than obtaining the 30 min lead from 7pm.

Dance running from 8pm to 10pm is just plain irritating.

And I am still willing to beat that most of the people who watch ch10 would not have a ratings box anywhere near their house or ever will.

  39. koverstreet March 4, 2010 at 6:16 pm -

I’m a fan but not sure Judge Judy would do well in prime time. I think the 10 news should be moved to 5.30 which would boost it’s prime time ratings and give Neighbours a stronger lead in.

  40. dean March 4, 2010 at 5:13 pm -

    Crazy idea:

Put Judge Judy on in primetime, Ten. Either at 6, 6:30 or 7.

  41. David Knox March 4, 2010 at 4:56 pm -

Masterchef had no problems at 7PM with Neighbours lead in. The issue isn’t so simple….

  42. JM March 4, 2010 at 4:40 pm -

What actually makes people think that TBL will do better at 7pm?
Its lead-in of Neighbours will not be any better than it is now, and what, its going to skyrocket just because 7PM Project is gone?

  43. Harry March 4, 2010 at 4:21 pm -

Wow.. TEN have hit rock bottom.

  44. Ellie March 4, 2010 at 3:19 pm -

So many excuses are made for TBL and SYTYCD… Perhaps viewers (me) are tired of networks rolling out the same reality shows each year and expecting them to cruise the dizzy heights they always did. That is why they aren’t rating. Numbers have dropped or are dropping, that is a simple indication of viewer indifference!

It’s just lazy programming… take a page out of your own book CH 10 and take a leap with something new; look what it did for you with Master Chef!

ps… I actually love the new contestants each year on these reality shows; it’s the judges and hosts I bore of very quickly

  45. ryan March 4, 2010 at 2:30 pm -

Dance doesnt need to go, it just needs its sunday and mon timeslots again, it did pretty well last yr. and loser is up against strong comp at 7.30 each day so the 7pm slot worked well for people who had enough of 2.5 men and home and away.

  46. Jed March 4, 2010 at 2:21 pm -

Good to see Criminal Minds rate so well. It is an excellent show.

Why are people blaming 7PM Project for Biggest Loser doing so badly? People probably just don’t want to watch the Biggest Loser anymore. I know i don’t, except maybe the Masterclass but thats only for the cooking bit.

7PM Project however should be moved to 6.30 with Neighbours shifted to either side of the 5 o’clock news. 4.30 would be my best bet. Kids could get home from school and watch Neighbours at 4.30. It would only be up against Seven and Nine’s 4.30 news, but everyone would just watch the 6 o’clock news anyway.

  47. DAN March 4, 2010 at 1:47 pm -

ok ten you have given 7PM enough time it is clearly not going to work so for god sake get rid of it and put TBL back on at its original time of 7pm

Ouch. Dance, TBL and 7PM may need to all go? Rest Dance next year bring it back later same goes with Loser. Great figures for Criminal Minds one of my favourites.
