That Friday number for Neighours is brutal – 428,000.

If it was any other locally produced drama it wouldn’t be returning on Monday, but because of international sales and drama quota requirements it just keeps lumbering along.

Ten could at least try to give it a revamp and up the quality level a little. At the moment it is agonisingly apparent that nobody connected with the program cares about it – actors, production staff, publicity. Nobody is putting in any effort at all and the impact is disastorous.

Any time shifting info for the last few weeks david?

  4. messy April 4, 2010 at 10:17 pm -

@vrom…totally agree. Its all about trying to outdo each other. If one network embarks on something, then the other network tries to outdo them. They just can’t think for themselves . Always have to follow the other.
Just take a look at Border Security and Customs etc etc. Its a sad situation for all of us.

  5. timmy April 4, 2010 at 9:54 pm -

@vid – just to get this straight – I was just watching Survivors now with the BBC version running on the computer. In a split second, two and a half minutes was missing (immeditely prior to the scene where Jimmy offered Abby “another hit?”). Yes, really. So unless the BBC sold a highly truncated version internationally, then yes, Nine has cut it to shreds.

Tonight’s ep on Nine started *half way* through epsiode four of the six part season.

  6. Mickche April 4, 2010 at 5:53 pm -

David, do you know hot much The General made on Sat on ABC2?

  7. vrom April 4, 2010 at 5:17 pm -

    @ Peps:
Today’s figures on Friday were so low in Melbourne because they broadcast their first ever telethon for the Maters Mothers’ and Children’s Hospitals in Brisbane into Victoria, which caused some outrage because here in Victoria, the focus is on the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, broadcasted by Channel Seven.

Now I don’t think those behind the decision realise how serious and how much of an institution the Good Friday Appeal is to us Victorians. It’s been going for 79 years and was first broadcast on HSV-7 Melbourne within the first year broadcast television began in this country in April 1957 – 53 years ago! (Start of television Sept 1956.) So it has been part of our lives for so long it was a little sickening to wake up and see Karl and Lisa read donations for a ‘rival’ appeal on Good Friday morning.

Now I’m not against Today having a telethon for the Brisbane’s Maters’ Easter appeal. It is a great cause and should be supported by all. But according to the Maters Foundation website (materfoundation.org.au/), their appeal this year is on between 22 March to 18 April – so not including Good Friday that’s 27 other days Today/Weekend Today could have chosen to have their national telethon and be able to broadcast it into Victoria and not have it clash with Melbourne’s Good Friday Appeal.

  8. Peps April 4, 2010 at 10:54 am -

Wow, why were Today’s figures so dire in Melbourne on Friday?

  9. Chris April 2, 2010 at 6:26 pm -

great figures for the afl – and beating nrl footy show in brisbane!

Any figures for thurs night live david?

“Seven’s Footy Show” = The Matty Johns Show” + “The Bounce” depending on the city.

  13. Trev April 2, 2010 at 4:27 pm -

More folk watched 7’s Matty Johns NRL garbage in Melbourne than Sydney?
What were the other networks showing down south, a test pattern?

  14. damo April 2, 2010 at 3:36 pm -

@jimbob. just look at the melbourne, perth and adelaide figures

  15. jimbob April 2, 2010 at 2:08 pm -

damo, where are the figures for The Bounce?

  16. Ryano April 2, 2010 at 12:10 pm -

Solid number for the AFL. Perth figures should be a concern. Sorry 7 but a lot of us here in the West are just not going to tolerate 3 hour delays anymore.

  17. Kuttsywood April 2, 2010 at 11:49 am -

A big turning point for AFL in Queensland. NRL Footy Show thrashed by AFL telecast, albeit with a strong lead-in.

  18. damo April 2, 2010 at 11:26 am -

good number for the afl in brisbane as well

  19. damo April 2, 2010 at 11:25 am -

no surprise the bounce dropped in the ratings this week and things won’t get any better for it either

  20. Axel April 2, 2010 at 1:43 am -

Watched “The Matty Johns Show” for the first time tonight and it’s just as bad (if not worse) than “The Footy Show”. Does the show need silly characters and segments? Maybe Matty would be suited to a Tonight Live type show or maybe a sketch comedy.

I think I’ll give ONE’s “Thursday Night Live” a go next week. Couldn’t possibly be as crap as the above.

  21. JB April 1, 2010 at 9:07 pm -

@Tony, yes that was good to see an episode answer questiosn rather than give us more questions.

So now we know how Richard got to the island. Why he doesn’t age, and why Jacob brings the people he does to the island. A lot more to be answered though.

  26. wamdue April 1, 2010 at 10:33 am -

is there any chance the Neighbours rating is an April Fool? ;)

  27. sam April 1, 2010 at 10:21 am -

Heros v villians is fansatsic- love survivor…..and now one episode is great – leaves me wanting more-….i gotta say wednesday night TV is just terrible nothing on at all on FTA or pay TV wants going on …pub night

  28. Trev April 1, 2010 at 10:20 am -

Thud!!! Oh well, it was good for a fleeting moment. Roll on Masterchef.

  29. CrAig April 1, 2010 at 9:47 am -

@ JB, I think Russell is the only character that the others wouldn’t know, as Heroes and Villains was filmed directly after Samoa. So maybe they hadn’t seen that any of the series yet by the time they started H vs V??

  30. ompman March 31, 2010 at 8:59 pm -

top gear was a repeat i seen it on sbs

  31. tasmanian devil March 31, 2010 at 5:18 pm -

@ Craig – The ratings report was not stuffed up. The synopsis for next Sunday’s episode is the one for ep 4, despite only being the third week on air. So two episodes were definitely squeezed into 105 minutes last Sunday and 9 must have edited them despite supposedly not being allowed to.

  32. Mike March 31, 2010 at 4:54 pm -

It seems 7 is getting their karma for axing All Saints. Third place for a night usually always dominated by 7. Good job.

  33. vrom March 31, 2010 at 4:51 pm -

Good to see Ten up there, even if it is non ratings.

  34. Trev March 31, 2010 at 4:50 pm -

@ Harry. Me too. Isn’t it nice to agree on something for a change.

  35. Harry March 31, 2010 at 3:59 pm -

    @ Trev,
I only watched NCIS LA because of Pauley. I dont watch much TV to be honest, the only show that I can say I will never miss an episode to is NCIS!

  36. Harry March 31, 2010 at 3:49 pm -

Go the NCIS’s! NCIS LA was brilliant last night, their best episode ever and best rating result ever. The repeat of NCIS was great too, I had not seen that ep and I guess people just really love NCIS! Its great. Well Done to TEN.

  37. JB March 31, 2010 at 3:38 pm -

@Steve. Loving it also. You would think they would know a bit about each other though. I mean how can Tyson be so stupid to believe Russell? They had the plan, it would have worked, Russell would have gone. Good to see some of the classic challenges again too.

  38. Steve March 31, 2010 at 3:23 pm -

Loving Survivors Heroes v Villains!…anyone else??

  39. dean March 31, 2010 at 2:52 pm -

What is everyone’s obsession with NCIS? A repeat of NCIS for that matter…

  40. Trev March 31, 2010 at 11:09 am -

Congratulations 10, not only a good performance, but a win thanks to the US Navy and the boys from Bondi. The big surprise for me at least was how well NCIS LA went, as last year it only just hung in there. Methinks it must have been the presence of Pauly that boosted the ratings. I bet Ryan and Harry are beside themselves, and for once so they should be.

  41. Allie March 31, 2010 at 10:23 am -

Private Practice is a total bomb, Seven should can it or consign it to Seven2. It has never rated particularly well. Worst spin-off show I’ve ever seen and one of the worst shows on TV at the moment. I do not understand how Ten can continue to keep Neighbours on air, given the atrocious way it has been rating for several months now. It will soon be out of the Top 30, the way it is going.

  42. jacket March 31, 2010 at 7:07 am -

@messy … very true viewers can do that…. I just wonder if the general public do that as much these days…. just my thoughts….I find myself that with the larger number of channels available it can be more confusing trying to keep up with all their content.
@ Belinda….. glad you saw the advertising…. actually it was not a conspiracy theory….just my observation….I must have been viewing at the wrong times….

  43. tom March 31, 2010 at 12:43 am -

@jacket…. thanks for agreeing…. i actually agree with you all the channels heavily promote all these crappy new shows when they should savor what they got

  44. Belinda March 31, 2010 at 12:28 am -

@jacket Ten were advertising Supernatural over a week before it returned, and I skip most ad breaks, but the Supernatural ads got through to me somehow, so I wouuld ditch that conspiracy theory.

  45. messy March 30, 2010 at 10:12 pm -

@jacket…they can always browse the programs. Thats why they print them.

  46. Craig March 30, 2010 at 10:11 pm -

@tasmanian devil – I think they (not David) stuffed up the rating report. I’ve checked and after the pilot each ep is 55-60 min long without ads, so should be around 80-90 minutes run time.

As other have said either live with the crappy Sunday night time slot or wait for the DVD.

  47. jacket March 30, 2010 at 9:00 pm -

I agree with Tom…. and I would assume that most fans who know of the return of Supernatural would be watching ….it is great to see it back on our screens…
But I have to wonder how many of the general viewers even knew it was on last night….seriously I watched TEN quite a bit in the week leading up to last night, to try and see its advertising of Supernatural…and I saw No previews!!!!
So unless people know it is on, how can they watch it…LOL..

  48. David Knox March 30, 2010 at 7:08 pm -

Daily ratings are 1-30 + select highlights.

  49. tom March 30, 2010 at 6:43 pm -

Great to see supernatural back on, come on fans get behind and get the ratings up this is what we wanted we got it back

  50. tasmanian devil March 30, 2010 at 5:59 pm -

Now I’m confused. The ratings report clearly states Survivors -Ep1 and Survivors -Ep2. That’s two 60 minute eps in 105 minutes. It’s impossible for them not to have been butchered.

Can someone fill me in on this?

  51. geof March 30, 2010 at 5:53 pm -

Hey, does anyone know how the top 50 shows are selected? According to the OzTam overnights, dirtgirlworld got 185,000 views on ABC1, which would put it at #40, but it doesn’t appear here at all… cheers

  52. ryan March 30, 2010 at 3:01 pm -

Great to see the biggest loser jump, great twist last night. I just gotta say how not happy i was when 9am was axed but the circle is pretty dam good, quite funny and good segments.

  53. Pat March 30, 2010 at 2:40 pm -

Is the 1st figure Australian wide?

  54. Pat March 30, 2010 at 2:35 pm -

I don’t get it….there are more figures than capital cities in the ratings…I must be missing something…

    b/w doesn’t Hobart count?

  55. Craig March 30, 2010 at 12:00 pm -

@tasmanian devil – Survivors was only a 90 minutes (without ads) ep for the pilot, all the rest are around 60 mins without ads.

Unlike Top Gear they will not be edited, as vid said there are conditions and unlike TG they can’t cut a segment out to reduce the length.

  56. David Knox March 30, 2010 at 11:02 am -

Nip/Tuck didn’t make the Top 100 which puts it at below 93,000.

  57. vid March 30, 2010 at 10:32 am -

@ timmy…shows that come from the BBC has conditions tagged along with it.. one of them is that it cant be re-edited… Nine is not re-editinng them. get your facts straight!

  58. robbie1979 March 30, 2010 at 10:17 am -

How did Nip/Tuck’s Season 6 premiere go ratings wise last night on GO!?

  59. Janey March 29, 2010 at 10:57 pm -

@ Steve. Apparently a beat-up story with no truth whatsoever. I believe Travolta’s management have said that he was happy with the interview and cancelled others because of other commitments. Sounds like the journalist was trying to make a name for themselves.
The interview tonight on 7pm Project looked fine.

  60. David Knox March 29, 2010 at 8:50 pm -

    Steve: Cannot confirm.

  61. timmy March 29, 2010 at 8:47 pm -

@tasmanian devil Nine has totally butchered Survivors… I recommend obtaining it elsewhere. Um, such as… er… the DVD release? ;) Or not.

  62. tasmanian devil March 29, 2010 at 5:17 pm -

I haven’t watched Survivors yet (I recorded it) but how is 9 supposed to fit two hour long episodes into 105 minutes? Without ads that would be roughly equal to an hour and a quarter, which means that over 20 minutes would have been cut from each episode. Why do the commercial networks even bother with BBC shows?

  63. DC March 29, 2010 at 5:16 pm -

V had its first week to week increase but I suspect channel 9 expects a show in this timeslot to rate 1million+.

  64. DC March 29, 2010 at 5:14 pm -

    Thanks

  66. Tony March 29, 2010 at 4:55 pm -

Er, Ryan, that would be Chrissie Amphlett, lead singer of the Divinyls. A much better singer than game show contestant.

Interesting to see more people watched the F1’s on ONE HD in Perth than on Ten. The cashed up bogan (and cashed up folk in general) loves his/her big HD TV here in the west.
Those 9 News figures in Perth are unheard of, given 7 was with AFL people had to look elsewhere if they wanted news at 6.

Bones was a repeat last night. The first episode of season 3.

Any clues how the Brumbies v Waikato and NSW v Auckland Blues S14 games rated on Friday and Saturday night?

Where was Sunday Night last night – are they off air for the non-ratings period ?

Good to see ten do well. So strange how many viewers arent watching tv, very low rating night. Tbyg was hell good last night except the sad sack baby boomer! i dont know her name but she had the personality of a pea!

Was Bones all new last night??

V audience seems to have stabilised, and I think those numbers are pretty respectable considering it is sci-fi and on 9.

Shouldn’t the F1 figures be combined considering Ten and One simulcast the event?

  76. Pj March 29, 2010 at 12:40 pm -

Wow, if you added up all the F1 telecasts from 10/One on Sunday, they had a lot of eyeballs watching!

  77. thesportsfreak March 29, 2010 at 10:39 am -

Combine the two AFL games, 7 would be pleased with those figures. But I still don’t understand why, in WA, they didn’t still show the Bulldogs/Collingwood game live?! They had the opportunity to – but they held it over until 10:30pm.
7 needs to get their act together with footy.
