Australian ex-pat David Lyle will head up Fox LOOK, a new unit for unscripted television from FOX.

“There is a strong demand for this type of content internationally and Fox LOOK was created to maximize our footprint in this ever-growing category,” said Tony Vinciquerra, the chairman and CEO of Fox Networks Group.

“David Lyle is an expert in the international format business and his passion for the industry will provide us with a tremendous advantage.”

Fox LOOK plans to license formats internationally. Formats to be offered up by the unit include Temptation Island, Beauty and the Geek and Celebrity Spelling Bee, all of which have aired in Australia in one form or another.

“Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution will continue to bring our scripted formats to the international market, and we also look forward to working alongside David and his new group to help advance the presence of Fox unscripted programming around the world,” said Edwards. “We look forward to supporting Fox LOOK with the strength of our international sales expertise.”

Lyle is formerly the head of Fox Reality Channel which was recently shut down. He was also an executive at Channel Nine. His brother Richard remains Nine’s Chief Classification Officer.

Seems like they are adding in games shows as well as reality shows under his jurisdiction. Interesting job.

    Bleh… Horrible ‘mix’ of shows…

On a [somewhat related] side note – I’m really hoping #BigBrother makes a comeback in 2011 on TEN’s entertainment channel. It doesn’t need to be mega budget or anything…
