Getaway’s billionth viewer

By David Knox on April 5, 2010 / Filed Under Programming 5

Sophie Monk will file her first report for Getaway next week with “My L.A.”

The long-running travel show will also celebrate its “one billionth viewer” (presumably the sum total of its audiences across the life of the show) by giving away a car live on air.

The show airs 7:30pm Thursday April 15th on Nine.

Sophie Monk…wow! golly gee! Nein Reallywent to great lengths to get a quality guest…(!)

@Franz: yes I remember her on WonderWorld, she took over from Pascal Fox. I also remember she ruined the show by being waaaay too serious. You would have thought she was the host of 4 Corners or something.

I can just picture Nine’s usually over-sexed promo for this show if they’ve managed to get Sophie Monk & Catriona Rowntree to report from warm climates… Or maybe that’s just me?

The Show has been around a long time. What Most of You May not know is that Round about the same time Getaway Started Catriona Rowntree was one of the presenters on the relaunched Wonderworld back in 1992.I don’t think there would be a million episodes since that time If you take out Cricket and Non Ratings Periods at the rate of one a week over a 50 week year it would be somewhere around the high 800 something episodes.

    Sophie Monk? WTF?

Presumably, Getaway has to have celebrated a minimum of 1000 episodes first… This billionth viewer idea is confusing, unlike the Fauxneisa April Fools story, which was a cracker (which supposedly even had Peter Overton in on the joke).
