Gold Logie campaigning hits YouTube

Updated: Adam Hills and Wil Anderson launch Logie campaigns on YouTube, while Rebecca Gibney is still tipping Ray Meagher to win.

As Logie day nears, there are a bunch of different stories around today, so let’s wrap them up in one neat grab…

The Herald Sun reports Rebecca Gibney is still favourite to take out the Gold but her odds with bookmakers have slipped from $1.40 to $1.60 while Ray Meagher has firmed from $5 to $3. Next is Rove McManus at $8.50, Shaun Micallef at $11, Adam Hills at $14 and Wil Anderson, Esther Anderson and Paul McDermott all outsiders at $41.

Meanwhile Hills and Anderson have launched cheeky YouTube campaigns for the Gold.

Hills says, “Seriously, vote for Wil Anderson for the Gold Logie, people will think it’s me anyway.”

Anderson similarly urges a vote for his mate Hills. “Go on. I wanna see Alf Stewart call him a flamin’ mongrel when he wins.”

2009 Gold winner Rebecca Gibney tells news.com.au, “It was a surprise to be nominated last year and it’s still a surprise. It never ceases to amaze me that at 45 I’m still here and still kicking and up for Gold.

“A second one for me would be just unbelievable, but I’m not holding out any hope because I think Ray (Meagher) is the sentimental favourite.”

Meanwhile the Daily Telegraph is calling for nominations for the worst in TV in its Bogie Awards but is at odds with the Sun-Herald’s own Bogie Awards which have been run by David Dale for several years. Voting closes at midnight for this one. Its “winners” will be announced on Saturday.

  1. Esther Anderson is on Home and Away. It seems punters don’t know who she is, either, given the odds. But that just shows they’re not thinking like TV Week readers. (Not that I think she will win, but I am sure she is much further up the back than the odds would suggest. I’m thinking probably third)

  2. The nerve of the DT.

First they (parent company News Ltd) ruin Rugby League, then they (parent company News Ltd) half own the club who rorts the salary cap, and now they rort The Bogie Awards.

Keep your hands off our Bogies Murdoch!

  3. Thanks for your recognition of my prior claim to The Bogie Awards, which I started in 2007. If your readers care to put the words “bogies” and “smh” into google, they will see ample evidence on the subject.
You might like to let your readers know I have reopened voting — they have until midnight tonight to register their views in such categories as Most Unnecessary Personality, Most Embarrassing Program, Furtheset Past Use-by Date, and Most Blatant Ripoff of another Station’s Hit. The Daily Telegraph has already won an honorary Bogie for “Most blatant ripoff of another newspaper’s idea”.
