MasterChef wins third night

Wednesday was one tough night, but TEN's cooking contest rose like a souffle for its third straight win, while The Pacific also sailed to victory.

MasterChef Australia has won its third straight night, pulling 1.6m viewers.

On an enormously competitive night, the cooking contest again ranked #1, thumping Hey Hey It’s Saturday (1.2m) and Dog Squad (1.01m), Crash Investigation Unit (978,000).

But there was a significant switch off for So You Think You Can Dance Australia which netted 1.07m / 1.04m for its Finale and Winner Announced.

Both were beaten by The Pacific (1.46m) which helped the Seven Network to win the night.

Against such tough competition Lowdown premiered to 545,000 on the ABC while Spicks and Specks had to settle for 966,000.

Some media reports that wrote off Masterchef‘s premiere as a disappointing number may have spoken too soon. At this rate it could be headed for a winning streak of five straight nights at #1.

UPDATED: The Pacific replayed 2pm Wed April 28.

  1. I should watch at least a bit of hey hey. I don’t get why MC is so popular, cooking shows just don’t appeal to me. That said, I much prefer ten’s bombardment or masterchef ads over big brother! In glad they’ve found something decent to replace that awful show.
