I can’t believe only 101,000 watched the Showdown. There was only 40,000 at the game.

To fix Tens friday night scheldue
    7.30 Masterclass
    8.30 Degrassi Juinor High
    9.30 Hells Kitchen
    10.30 Burn Notice Repeats
In Canada Degrassi Juinor High is the most popular show on Tv

  5. Baggygreen May 1, 2010 at 9:25 pm -

@jed – no you were not. I turned over to fox at 10 and got the result. Game style is terrible this year and not being live means I have only watched 1 game in full on a friday this year. Wake up 7.

  6. Jarred May 1, 2010 at 8:37 pm -

I Don’t know who’s at fault (Seven or the AFL) but I wish Friday Night AFL was broadcast live. It kills me knowing that when I tune in to seven to watch the beginning of the match at 8.30pm the actual live match is at half time. Maybe that’s why Friday Night AFL figures are lower than expected, more often than not.

  7. ryan May 1, 2010 at 5:32 pm -

Ten’s friday lineup sucks! they need to capitalise on masterchef on fridays, a repeat of ncis isnt doing it and numbers is just the worst show on the planet! Ten should either put first run movies after masterchef on fridays or new eps of something.
I would also love to see the new simpsons return soon

  8. Kerri May 1, 2010 at 1:48 pm -

    Re. Better Homes and Gardens
I hope we don’t lose it. I admit it’s one of the most boring shows ever but my 7 year old daughter Loves it. She would be devastated!!!

  9. koverstreet May 1, 2010 at 1:42 pm -

Wow the AFL and BH&G are performing poorly for 7. Great to see Collectors doing well in it’s traditional time slot too.

  10. jed May 1, 2010 at 12:53 pm -

are there any figures between the first and second half of the AFL? the game was disgraceful and there’s an expected drop off due to st.kilda’s terrible style of play.

7 would be filthy, i’m sure I wasn’t the only one who turned off.

  11. David Knox May 1, 2010 at 12:47 pm -

    Ha…and I don’t even have a Logies hangover yet…

  12. Steven I May 1, 2010 at 12:14 pm -

Wow close granted but a rare win to Nine for a Friday.

  13. Guy May 1, 2010 at 12:09 pm -

LOL at it being Sunday today!

Seven had a poor Friday night. The AFL didnt do well at all and was beaten by the NRL. Could all this Storm fiasco business be making it more popular? Maybe MC is impacting it. I mean its hit BHG.

Good to see Chris Bath win easily last night too. She is so much better than the Nine newsman.

  14. Johnson May 1, 2010 at 11:50 am -

Is this the worst performance by Better Homes & Gardens this year? Not only did it come third nationally last night, behind NRL/Top Gear repeat and MasterChef, but it’s also the first time the program loses to TG repeat in Melbourne. A huge embarrassment for Seven.

  15. jamiemion May 1, 2010 at 11:31 am -

    RE: Lost

It just is seeming to me, personally, that the focus is now about Lockes people vs Widmores people, this “war” (strange, I tough a war consisted of thousands, not about 30 people??) and the big fight they are about to have with the mythological stuff, that the Entire show has been building up to over the last 5 seasons, being only casually referenced and sidelined, with the odd question being answered in the most simplistic way, i..e the whispers, yer the the souls of people trapped (and thats it). Ok, by who, why, how come etc etc etc. But no, that’s all we get. I fear that is all the “answers” we will get, simplistic and thought up in 5 minutes.

  16. JB May 1, 2010 at 11:31 am -

I don’t get Seven’s reasoning behind BH&G on instead of live footy because its rubbish what they’re saying. AFL in Melbourne at 8.30 got more than what BH&G did. And BH&G was beaten in Sydney and Brisbane by Nine’s live NRL. Don’t cry when you lose the rights Seven, doubt the NRL would wanna give them the rights either. Ten/ONE all the way.

  17. Alex T May 1, 2010 at 11:26 am -

David.. is that your prediction of saturdays figures?? =P

  18. wamdue May 1, 2010 at 11:20 am -

I think the latest ratings are from Friday not Saturday

  19. JB May 1, 2010 at 10:58 am -

@Lewis @jamiemion. I’m with jamiemion on this one. The first two series’ were very character driven by revealing things about their past, that was the mystery who were these people, how did they end up there, what’s their motivation behind decisions they made on the island.

The mythological stuff was all a teaser back then, but now it is what the show about. The greater answer to everything it was this series is about.

I’m still confused about many things, but they slowly starting to answer questions. Hope they do it justice and don’t make me feel like it was a waste.

  20. Scott May 1, 2010 at 8:17 am -

I must agree with Jamiemion – Lost was never about the characters, always about the mysteries. I despised every litte character moment, every interraction of the characters. It was always about the questions and and the hoped for and prayed for answers.

  21. Harry April 30, 2010 at 10:57 pm -

TEN probably would’ve come second if MC went for an hour last night – but having said that Im glad they havent stretched the length of episodes this year because it rates so well. Good to see Glee do well, deserved its number – I dont watch it but Im eager to see this Madonna episode next week.

  22. Mark April 30, 2010 at 10:36 pm -

What happened to 7 news in Sydney??

  23. jamiemion April 30, 2010 at 6:13 pm -

    @jlewis

“Lost is clearly wasted on you. It is first and foremost a character show. The mysteries, whilst crucial and entertaining, are secondary.”

Are you telling me you teared up when Jinn & Sun were re-united, or when Kate flashes Jack a loving look etc etc etc. If you do then we are very different people, that’s all. I care about the metaphysical stuff in Lost and don’t give a rats about who ends up with who (and neither does most of the viewing public).

Go look at Yahoo’s ‘secret clues”, it ain’t about the characters, its about joining the dots and getting he answers.

If it were such a character based show the viewing numbers would not have dropped so hugely as people would be soooo invested in the characters. No, people only watched lost en masse when it was all about the hatch , the others, the creature that killed people…once it began to meander it Lost it’s viewers because they didn’t give a toss about the characters, just about finding out answers. When the answers were not forthcoming they bailed.

Asking anyone who has watched Lost casually, would they say it is character driven or driven by questions raised every week??

  24. ducko April 30, 2010 at 5:55 pm -

What happened to the resurgence of the 7pm Project. Seems to be back at normal levels?

  25. Lewis April 30, 2010 at 3:33 pm -

What did Seven expect from TAR? Those figures aren’t great, but considering the show is 3 months behind the US and on at 9.30, a graveyard slot for Seven, they’re not so bad.

@jamiemion: Lost is clearly wasted on you. It is first and foremost a character show. The mysteries, whilst crucial and entertaining, are secondary.
Of the ones you mentioned, Dharma I think is a closed book. What more do we need to know about them. The rest could easily be answered in the coming 4 weeks, as they mainly all tie together into the island’s history which I and most others suspect will be something that will be explained.
And if you think I’m the only one who thinks like this read the Lost thread on TVAus.

  26. kevin45 April 30, 2010 at 3:14 pm -

what happened to the footy shows in brisbane?
the figures were the same for the mj’s show 304’000 in sydney but in brisbane they dropped 16’000.

nine’s footy show in sydney dropped 66’000 to 184’000
in brisbane they dropped 56’000 to 111’000

a total of 72’000 brisbane viewers difference in one week.

  27. angelsgal April 30, 2010 at 3:07 pm -

Great figures for Glee. i think thats even better than when it followed the MC finale at 9.30. i was worried it would suffer from the odd start time like SYTYCD did. I dont think SVU is compatable out of it, a fun uplifting family dramedy to a serious crime drama doesnt work. Seven had a slightly better night but i have o say i miss HIMYM, i was looking forward to watching glee, then turning into mother at 9pm. Nine is on a role, having a very good start to the year. they’ve fixed there tuesday and are solid every day of the week, in total people and demos. the question is can MC cut into 7’s share again like they did last week.

  28. Kuttsywood April 30, 2010 at 3:02 pm -

Seven should put Deal out to pasture, judging by the Sydney results last night. Under 100k in the third largest market: yeah, but under 100k in the largest market in Australia: that should ring alarm bells at Seven.

  29. Nick April 30, 2010 at 12:34 pm -

Seven is dead in the water on Thursday Nights. What a disaster!

MC then Glee worked well for Ten. But dissappointing they didn’t come second for the night, Seven’s line up was appalling.

  30. Johnson April 30, 2010 at 12:08 pm -

Seven’s decision to axe The Bounce, Cougar Town and How I Met Your Mother seemed to have paid off. In primary share Seven was up by 2.3 points (22.5% versus 20.2% last Thursday), while Nine and Ten dropped: 25.4% for Nine (26.5% last Thursday) and 21.3% for Ten (24.7% last Thursday).
TAR got bad ratings because it started late and finished late (in Melbourne it started at 9.50pm and finished at 10.50pm, well past bedtime for some of its target audience). With The Matty Johns Show doing well in Sydney and Brisbane, it’s unlikely TAR will be moved to 7.30pm.
Very good ratings for return of Glee.

  31. Craig April 30, 2010 at 11:42 am -

So happy Glee out rated Sea Patrol and Getaway. Welcome back Gleeks!

  32. vm April 30, 2010 at 11:15 am -

@ JB, I totally agree about Devon whisking the eggs, he certainly did give them a good beating….. I couldn’t stop laughing.

  33. Dave April 30, 2010 at 11:05 am -

    Graet numbers for Glee
this is a great show for the Family to sit down and watch together

    we love Glee

  34. damo April 30, 2010 at 11:03 am -

master chef was rubbish last night. god they are a bunch of sooks. there was more ads than actuall coverage of the show and that’s just pathetic

  35. Chris April 30, 2010 at 10:56 am -

I really hope 7 does not axe the “The Amazing Race”.
The Big Bang Theory on GO. Is doing so well.
When is neighbours getting the axe? Those numbers are shocking. ACA and TT are not evening good shows and doing a lot better.

  36. Peps April 30, 2010 at 10:47 am -

TDJ – I haven’t seen Masterchef ask for viewer’s votes. Contestants have been eliminated as a result of challenges. Are you just slagging off the show having not even watched it?

I hadn’t seen Masterchef last year apart from the finale but this year I am hooked. A few less tears and it would be even better.

  37. dean April 30, 2010 at 10:34 am -

Glad to see Seven have achieved such higher ratings by putting Criminal Minds on instead of CT/HIMYM.
    *end sarcasm*

Bad figures for TAR. What do Seven expect though when they put it on so late AND months behind the US.

    Morons.

  38. jamiemion April 30, 2010 at 8:45 am -

@Lewis Oh Cmon. The producers of that show really have you wrapped around their little finger don’t they. The entire show has been about questions. There is a list a long as the universe of questions they have to answer. Dating back to season one.

This is a “mystery” based show, Damon Lindelof pretty much admitted this. It is not really a character based show, most people couldnt give a toss whether Sun & Jinn get back together, or Kate and Sawyer end up together, who cares. Go look at Lost message boards, see if their chatting about “the characters”.

The show is about mythology, that is what it is about…so many questions, no answers…

Who built the statue. Who built the temple. who built all the ancient structures on the island. What is with all the hieroglyphics. Who built a dam wheel that allows people to move an island and time travel. What is the history of Jacob & Man in black. Who exactly are the others and what was their goal. What was Darmas goal. Who was in Jacobs cabin that said “help me”.

And the list goes on and on and on..only 5 hours left…and all they seem to want to concentrate on is people with guns about to shoot each other.

  39. JB April 30, 2010 at 12:09 am -

Also on Devon, did anyone else p**s themselves laughing at how he was whisking?? Funniest thing i’ve seen.

  40. JB April 29, 2010 at 9:10 pm -

How crap that Devon went on Masterchef. Not happy. He was one of my favourites.

  41. tasmanian devil April 29, 2010 at 5:53 pm -

@ Jerome – That reminds me of The Rich List, one of the few good watchable shows to come from 7. In 2007 it regularly rated over a million yet was axed in 2008 after being moved to Saturdays. I guess a quality show like that didn’t fit 7’s image. Or The Mole, another quality show from 7 that disappeared despite rating well.

    “The Truth Behind…Seven 357,000 94,000 107,000 70,000 53,000 33,000″
The Truth Behind Seven. Now that would be interesting.

  42. Ellie April 29, 2010 at 5:46 pm -

Obviously by the numbers of 7pm project last night (down 200 000) the viewers realised MC doesnt start until 7.30.

  43. Goonies April 29, 2010 at 5:07 pm -

@ TDJ – and what if we do realise it is a ‘rigged reality tv’ program but still enjoy watching it? Who cares if it is a popularity contest, really? It is fun and entertaining and something a little bit different.

It’s a very high horse you are on, lets hope you don’t fall off it onto your head or anything.

  44. Craig April 29, 2010 at 4:55 pm -

So after just a few weeks back ‘Men In Trees’ is out again? So glade I watched it 2 years ago! I wonder how this will affect the planned return on The W Channel.

BTW I’m liking the final season of Lost, we are getting answer and I’m sure there is a big ending coming.

  45. Kuttsywood April 29, 2010 at 4:28 pm -

@BJ: Adelaide and Perth are relatively easy to explain: The time difference, really would hurt a show like Hey Hey, which is in essence, a live program.

Brisbane however, is likely a different story.

  46. Jerome April 29, 2010 at 4:09 pm -

@bigkev on behalf of J’amie, plenty of shows that rate over 1mil get the axe, it’s not that much of an achievement. and when a network spends millions upon millions for a show like hey hey they would be hoping for better figures than than they could get from a NZ factual or 2.5men repeat. especially considering are only 3 episode down out of 20. it would be interesting to see if 9 are contract locked into making all 20.

27 dresses did well, i thought WDYTYA would do better, it was very good. and sunrise JB monday seems to have worked somewhat with a 70k gap between today.

Lost isn’t rating very well on 7two, i don’t believe more people are watching fringe, next week will be an interesting experiment to see if fasttracking affects ratings at all. i will predict not, people that download will download no matter what FTA networks do.

There are a lot of mugs for viewers out there. One would think they would have learned from last year. This Master Chef crap is nothing but another rigged reality program. It has nothing to do with who cooks better, it is a popularity contest which favours whoever gets the most attention. Like last year. The network just plays viewers for fools. Then again they are gullible fools. The only people who are dumber are the ones that feed the network money over the phone. How stupid do you have to be, to not think there is something wrong with being charged to vote with some of these programs. Idiots.

@BJ – by “come up with something for those markets” you mean something worth watching??? I wouldn’t watch a second of “Hey, Hey It’s Daryl Day”.

MC is hurting Hey Hey’s ratings, but Hey Hey’s biggest problems seems to be the audience in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Can’t crack 200,000 in Brisbane or 100,000 in Adelaide or Perth. Perhaps they need to come up with something to appeal to those markets.

Sydney and Melbourne figures last night were relatively strong.

Hey Hey it’s Saturday on Wednesday night is going backwards real fast.
It only beat a reality show from NZ by 24k last night, MC is killing it..

    @jamiemion

Lost is brilliant. What are you expecting, that all of a sudden some ethereal character appears, sits down in front of the characters and just answers their questions for 17 episodes? This show has always been about the character development. That has always come first, and this season has continued that, providing resolution yet still drawing the audience in. Not only that, but each episode we learn something about the island, maybe something big, or maybe something small. The fact that all you care about is the answers suggests you don’t really appreciate the full package that is Lost.

@ craig – WDYTYA did ok for a show that started at 9.40 and roughly the same as a new CM.

    @Steve.

I agree. Lost is now really terrible. It is really weak the way they are not following through and answering raised questions. it is like they are ignoring everything that has come before cause they just can’t be bothered.

I used to luv Hey Hey back in the day. I watched it through the 80’s and 90’s and enjoyed the reunion eps last year. But I have finally admitted to myself that the new show is Crap. Don’t think I’ll watch it again. Only got half way through last night and I’m really ticked because I missed Masterchef as a result (sounds like it was great last night. ) If they put Hey Hey it’s sat on a saturday it might be better. It might become more about entertainment rather than ratings. In the meantime, hey hey has lost another fan I’m afraid. It was just painful to watch!!!

If Ten can get its third general entertainment channel to pull the figures of GO! and 7TWO it would be almost winning off the back of Masterchef.

Good to see MC win again, looks like it will keep solid numbers, not sure if Nine will be happy with Hey Hey 3rd again in it’s time slot, so much for the 2mil numbers they were hoping for. Good thing WDYTYA? only have 6 shows to go, but with those number I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets bumped next week.

@ Bigkev. How much longer will Hey Hey remain above 1.0m? It’s lost 400k viewers in 3 weeks. If this pattern continues it will be below 1m very soon….
