The channel begins a a two week Test broadcast from Friday.

Its official launch on Channel 44 is planned for June 11th, but the date is yet to be finalised.

  1. C31 Digital TV covers programming reflects the diversity and needs of the Melbourne & Geelong community and includes sport, news, music, education, youth, religion, multicultural, arts, entertainment, leisure and lifestyle programs.

The station also carried a number of programs originally produced at other Channel 31 stations in other states.

  2. Community programs from interstate broacasters TVS Sydney, QCTV Brisbane, C31 Adelaide & Access 31/CTV Perth will join the C31 digital from Melbourne!

  3. Those in Perth can find Community TV, West TV, on Digital Channel 44, it’s only been on air for about 2 months so make sure you re-scan your digital box/TV to get it and tell others to do the same!
I’m currently working on a current affairs/news magazine style TV show for Perth called “59 Minutes” going to air in a few weeks. Very exciting times for Community TV in Western Australia.

  4. I’m glad C31 is finally able to start digital broadcasting. There’s the odd litlle gem tucked away there that the networks wouldn’t have the balls to put on.

WTV in Perth are already on air in digital only, so that makes Melbourne 3rd and Brisbane 4th. (But if QCTV starts testing on the 2nd and the full service on the 7th, they’ll be in breach of their licence conditions.) I’ve heard that Adelaide won’t be going digital until October, because SBS won’t allow any work to be carried out at the transmitter site while the World Cup and the Tour de France are on!

  5. Bogues: Briz31/Whatever they are called is starting their trials on June 2nd, with formal/regular service from the 7th. Radio ads for the past few weeks trumpetting the June 7th date.
