Hey Hey: May 5

Hey Hey has a mix of old and new guests with Olivia, David Atkins, Tina Arena, Jono & Dano, Stan Walker and Gyroscope.

Several ‘blasts from the pasts’ make their way onto Hey Hey tonight.

David Atkins, Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony producer and brother-in-law to Daryl Somers, will be a Red Faces judge alongside evergreen pop goddess Olivia Newton-John.

Tina Arena will perform Alice Cooper’s “Only Women Bleed.”

And radio duo Jono & Dano, who were both interviewing celebs on the Logies Red Carpet, will take part in the segment Lost for Words, which makes its 2010 debut tonight.

The much younger Australian Idol winner Stan Walker will perform his new single Unbroken live while Perth rockers Gyroscope will perform their new single, Some of the Places I Know.

Other segments to feature this week include Phunny Fotos and Plucka Duck while one viewer will also have the chance to win a trip to ‘Robin Hood’s Nottingham’ in the UK.

  1. Thanks David for the guest lists. I rarely watch channel Nine so I always miss who is going to be on the show. One day they might even have some guests that will motivate me to watch.

  2. Hi again David – thanks for your reply. Very open of you and fair enough too.
It is your blog after all. Just felt like some shows get preferential treatment but I accept it could be my natural bias shining through rather than yours.
Again no offence intended. My comment read more harshly than I had wanted.
Probably I’ll get a hammering from your loyal minions now.
Wish I’d put a smiley-face at the end of my first comment!

  3. Hi David.
As a genuine fan of this website (read it from the early days when it had no ads and was mostly your critique & wry humour -ie the good old days) I am a tad mystified as to why you keep plugging this horsesh&T show with a list of who’s on, what’s happening, etc etc. Are you compensated to do so? Okay if you are, gotta make a living, but shouldn’t you declare your interest John Laws style?
If you’re not being paid to spruike this dross then why don’t you also declare the line-up for the 7.30 Report or other non-crap television?
I don’t mean to embarrass you so feel free not to post this comment but I would like an answer as I used to respect this TV blog.

    1. Steve I am happy to declare my interest: $0.00

I update info on various shows as a matter of reporting Programming content on a case by case basis: off the top of my head – At the Movies, Dateline, Insight, 60 Mins, Sunday Night, US shows with guest stars, Idol guest judges, Dance guests, Letterman, Chelsea Lately -even Kylie on an old Vicar of Dibley rerun. As a longtime reader you would be familiar with this. Doesn’t mean I am going to watch everything I log….

Previous Hey Hey articles also logged cancellations. Tonight’s ep also includes a few blasts from the past I thought would be of interest. I am sure I will be making note of additional guests in the future. It’s a TV blog.

  4. For the first time since the show has been back (including the reunion specials last year), I am not going to watch the show tonight.

As an experiment, I am going to record the show (I think I’ll watch Masterchef and Fringe) and watch it on Saturday night to see if it feels better watching it on that night, rather than in the middle of the week.

It sounds like it’ll be a pretty good show, but when I was watching it last week, I was thinking to myself “You know what? I would probably be in the mood for this kind of thing on a Saturday night. During the week, I want to watch something that is a little more serious and has a solid structure.”

Even though I would rather see it on a Saturday night, I do hope that the ratings increase for the first time this year.

  5. A friend of mine works for Jetstar as a flight attendant and apparently they’re doing some sort of on-air promotion tonight? No idea what it involves though.
