Project Runway Australia in doubt

More hints today that Project Runway Australia may not proceed for Arena this year.

As first revealed by TV Tonight earlier this month, Project Runway Australia is in jeopardy.

A spokesman yesterday told the Daily Telegraph the show was “a difficult show to cast” and a third season could be put on hold to build some depth to its contestant ranks.

US-based host Kristy Hinze is yet to be signed to a third season. There are industry rumours Megan Gale and Elle McPherson are being touted as possible hosts should a new series proceed.

“We haven’t engaged in a discussion with the cast members at the this stage,” the spokesman said. “We’re not in a position to tell if we will go ahead this year.”

Project Runway Australia, which is well regarded in the fashion industry, was one of the shows Foxtel plugged as part of its 2010 season at the top of the year.

  1. I hope Project Runway Australia comes back for another season. I really love the show – the judges and contestants have such great chemistry together… that’s something that is hard to find in reality TV….

  2. I really hope they do find some contestants to make a new series this year… Surely they could pop around to a few fashion schools around the country. This is my fav show hands down, I hope Kristy Hinze will be back she is the perfect host, and Henry Rollins is very good as well.

  3. The casting has been really good for this show. Quite a few of the contestants featured have gone on to earn a lot of plaudits in the fashion industry. Lui Hon and Anthony both had shows at RAFW. Hopefully they continue to make it because it is one of the few reality based creative shows that has some credibility within its industry.
