TV Tonight hears long running US soap General Hospital is about to get a return to Australian television on Pay TV.

The show will return to the W Channel on July 5 to screen directly after The Young and The Restless at 12.50pm. The cast features Australian actor Ingo Rademacher, formerly of Paradise Beach and Echo Point.

The soap last screened In Australia in December 2005 on FOX8.

When As the World Turns ends in September the show will become the longest running American daytime soap opera in production.

That will leave One Life to Live as the other major US soap without a regular timeslot in Australia.

  1. If Days of Our Lives moved from Nine to W, from late February to early April, then when As the World Turns ends in September, that will leave General Hospital and One Life to Live as the only major US soaps without a regular timeslot in Australia.

  2. here is some trivia. General Hospital was the first show I saw in colour when i came home from school and we unpacked our first colour TV back in 1977. That is how long this show has been going 🙂

  3. best news I have heard since all my children started on 7two this year …hope they keep it on longer this time …best SOAP ever ..bring on 5th of july..

  4. Excellent news .This is definitely my favourite of daytime soaps. It finally woke up from the coma !! Time to upgrade to iq2 . I will need the extra space in hard drive. I hope they have a marathon on the weekends like they have for Y & R .I hope they screen it from when Vincent Pastore (from The Sopranos) joined the cast playing another mob character. That would be great to see. I will series link this asap. next time they talk about GH on The View we can know what they are talking about.
