Viewers fuming over Better Homes and Gardens contest

Updated: Better Homes and Gardens viewers are fuming after entering a competition that promised to announce winners but was late.

Viewers of Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens are fuming after entering a competition that was reportedly due to announce winners last Friday.

But while the show said to check the official website for the 18 winners of a Mother’s Day “KitchenAid” competition, so far none have been added.

The contest originally told entrants ” Make sure you log on to the Better Homes and Gardens website next week: (Friday 14th May) to find out if you’re a winner!”

Angry viewers have left furious messages on the show’s website. Some claim they didn’t receive confirmations after entering via SMS at 55c per entry. Entries were also accepted via 1902 55 77 05.

The contest’s Terms and Conditions stated each SMS entry would receive a reply. Winners are also due to be published in the Public Notices of today’s Australian.

On the Yahoo-hosted BH&G website the anger is fever-pitch:

– Has anyone been notified they are a winner of the Kitchenaid comp? This is very frustrating!! Not even the terms and conditions are available for verification of timing!! Shame BHG, Shame!!

-Hey guys, Is this a bluff or have you simply just forgotten to post the winners?

-okay, this is getting rediculous. just post the bloody winners.. whether they’ve already been notified or not. the rest of us would just like to know we haven’t won for sure. are we sure no one has heard anything? has anyone called channel 7?

-Are you serious! Get with the program BHG!!! One week you tell us that winners will be announced on the program. A week later, sitting there with great anticipation, you take the time to tell us that winners will be posted on the website. Why bother? Why couldn’t you just post them on TV? ..

-I have been checking for the winners of the kitchenaid competition from the second they announced to look on their site, a huge error has been made on their behalf and I am sure they will lose many viewers all phone costs to the entrants should be reimbursed for this competition!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Doesnt seem like I am the only one. My son waited up and watched the show for the winners of the Kitchen aid competition. Then we went to the website and now again this morning. Really…not very good. The presenters did say we should go to the website and check if we won.

-As a mother I would have like to had the kitchen appliance, for mothers day. When the comps are put to air saying check the website, the results should be on here. Also what about the people who don’t have a computer? Its a little disappointing all round.

-I suppose if we had won we would have been notified by now??????? Maybe there NEVER WAS a competition!!!! But of course it must have been a technical error!!!! Did you raise a lot of money from the phone & sms’s, you didn’t have any issues taking that. BAD SPORTSMANSHIP!!!

-Not Happy. Where are the Kitchenaid winners? I didn’t receive confirmation to my last entry which was sent b4 close of comp. What is going on?

Many are threatening to bombard Sunrise‘s Kochie and Mel for an answer.

UPDATED: A Seven spokesperson told TV Tonight a technical glitch prevented the answers being added online on Friday morning, but were added on Sunday morning here. Another list of BH&G contest winners here doesn’t have them listed which appears to have added to the confusion.

  1. Once again better homes no confirmation on SMS competitons. I have just checked my sentbox on my ph I have sent over 10 SMS with only 2 confirmations. I give up no more better homes for us. ACA should do a story on this. LOL

  2. Will it really make a big difference to the winners or losers if they’re 1 or 2 days late? Get off the computer and turn off the TV and get a life with your real family not a substitute one!

  3. Well when you watch crap such as Better Homes and Gardens (hosted by the most annoying TV personality in J.Griggs), you’ve got to expect a certain low quality of program and standards.

  4. The major networks websites are a joke. eg. Try finding out online contact info for Go! An absolute mess but at least the ads work well on all sites 😉

  5. Dear Channel 7, I didn’t even enter the competition. Am I still eligible to win?
As a ‘bit of a shonk’ (review courtesy of my mum) in the kitchen, your advertised products would really suit me well. I guess I would have been advised if I hadn’t won?? Help me Mel and Kochie.

  6. In all Better Homes and Gardens competitions in which there are too many winners to put up on screen we always make sure the Channel Seven switchboard has results as well.
So if there is a technical problem with the website, the winner’s names are always just a phone call away.

  7. Could you please tell me who the winners of the kitchen aids competition are. I have looked up the web site as advised but still can’t find out. thanks.

  8. lol this is hilarious. They’re acting like 7 have packed up in the middle of the night and disappeared. Most likely someone forgot to flip a switch on the website, or forgot to email off a list of winners to the web guys.

I’m sure this will all be sorted now it’s Monday morning.

  9. I wonder if ACA will do an expose on this in the same way Tonight Tonight did on Channel 9’s overcharging of SMS votes on the Logies Best Dressed competition.
