    @Steve

Sorry Steve was making the point with AFL, not NRL. If you read my comment I was talking about AFL but forgot to specify that I was actually talking about AFL. I know NRL has been shown live into Sydney and Brisbane for the last few years, it was AFL I was talking about. Sorry.

  2. alan May 9, 2010 at 11:12 pm -

@ Timothy Jong – do you follow television at all? Eddie’s New Variety Show? and Top Gear is out of new eps!!

  3. Daniel May 9, 2010 at 10:22 pm -

Its nice to see The Bill has a loyal fanbase

  4. Ryano May 9, 2010 at 2:46 pm -

220,000 people watched Fremantle V Brisbane in Perth on Ten/One yesterday, the wonders of live sport, ey.
    *Glares at C7….

  5. Steve May 9, 2010 at 2:19 pm -

@Shane, nine has shown the NRL into Sydney Live on Fridays for the last few years.

Unless the anti siphoning laws change, the next rights for the AFL the free to air broadcaster will be made to show the AFL live…the AFL has said this is what they want also.

  6. Timothy Jong May 9, 2010 at 12:39 pm -

Nine needs to put new episodes of Top Gear on Tuesday nights, AGT and MC are consistently beating it. Put V on Friday nights and put Eddie McGuire’s new variety show on Saturday nights from 6.30 to 8.30.

  7. Tony May 9, 2010 at 12:10 pm -

Okay, 6 of the top 10 shows on Saturday are on the ABC. Does that mean that the commercial networks are officially now not trying on Saturdays any more?

  8. Shane May 9, 2010 at 11:29 am -

To anyone’s comments of it should be shown live, this hasn’t happened for years. Nine didn’t do it between 2002-2006 and Seven didn’t do it beforehand. The only way this is going to change is if it can be simulcast with the digital channels, 7two, go or one. This will change in the next rights so it won’t matter who has it. So please quit complaining, nothing has changed.

  9. Grim May 9, 2010 at 7:57 am -

Trent, If Nine gets the rights to the AFL they will ‘stuff it up’ like they have done with the league.

  10. Ryano May 9, 2010 at 3:22 am -

Wonder if C7 are starting to get the hint that delaying AFL on Friday night’s is no longer a tenable strategy.
Shocking figures for Perth and Adelaide in particular.

  11. Rutzie May 9, 2010 at 2:16 am -

I reckon Seven should move BH&G to Thursday 7.30pm in Melb, Adel and Perth so they can show the AFL at 7.30pm on Friday in those markets and just show BH&G at 7.30pm Friday in Sydney and Brisbane.

  12. Trent May 8, 2010 at 8:56 pm -

I hope Nine get the future AFL rights. Seven are not doing justice to the sport and its followers.

  13. JB May 8, 2010 at 7:10 pm -

I really hope Seven do pull their head in regards to live footy in particular Friday night footy. Because while i think Nine will prob show it live and do it justice, the thought of listening to Eddie McGuire, James Brayshaw and co commentating is horrible.

  14. Steve May 8, 2010 at 4:02 pm -

My take on the ratings so far this year is that 7 are where 9 have been for the last few years…On the nose! They have been treating viewers with contempt..especially with their football coverage…they were also been doing the same thing with the Tennis earlier this year.

    People want their sport live!

If they do not change their thinking now, its going to take them maybe years to recover.

  15. Jarred May 8, 2010 at 2:42 pm -

I’m sounding a bit like a broken record here but I just wish that whoever is responsible for the Friday Night AFL Broadcast delay would pull their finger out their ass and wake up.
Austrlaians expect their sport (especially AFL) to be broadcast live in most cases. I’m pretty sure the delay is part of the AFL rights deal and hence isn’t Seven’s fault, however, Seven occasionally broadcast Friday night AFL matches live, when for instance, Adelaide are playing on Friday, the match is usually broadcast live into Adelaide. This is frustrating and it shows on their ratings figures.

  16. David Knox May 8, 2010 at 1:35 pm -

I’m on record as saying one of the most influential dramas of the last ten years.

  17. Butters May 8, 2010 at 1:30 pm -

Fair enough, David and thankyou for the response. I know us Lost fans have had you pulling your hair out this week with all the commentary on what does and does not constitute a spoiler. I think we’re all just going into mad anti-spoiler mode ahead of the big finale.

I trust you’re a fan of the show too?

  18. ryan May 8, 2010 at 1:07 pm -

Ten need to do a major promotion of neighbours, there have been quite a few changes in the past few months with heaps more characters and new sets which look good by the way.

  19. John Jackson May 8, 2010 at 12:59 pm -

@Tim Jong, I think Daryl said Usher is on in two weeks (eg, he’ll be appearing on the 19th).

  20. David Knox May 8, 2010 at 12:48 pm -

Butters… if the ep had aired in the US yes. As it stands it’s speculative. There are plenty of comments on the site where people discuss stuff that is in promos etc.

  21. damo May 8, 2010 at 12:43 pm -

bhag got beaten by live friday nigth footbal. 7 won’t take any notice, because they are dilusional morons

  22. Tim Jong May 8, 2010 at 12:15 pm -

Nine finally won the night last night thanks to the Rugby. This week Hey Hey is going to climb up as Usher will be on the show, hope The Pacific takes a tumble! Does anyone know how long is The Pacific going for? When Master Chef finishes, I hope Hey Hey hits number one!!

  23. Johnson May 8, 2010 at 11:36 am -

Sorry I mean to say MasterChef was first in the 7.30pm timeslot in Melbourne. It was also first in Adelaide and Perth.

  24. Johnson May 8, 2010 at 11:36 am -

Nine enjoyed a big win last night thanks to the rugby league test, which did very well in Sydney and Brisbane. In Melbourne however the match came third behind BH&G and MasterChef, which came third in the 7.30pm timeslot.

  25. FJ May 8, 2010 at 11:27 am -

Excellent ratings for the League Test even in Melbourne. 9 Melbourne should be ashamed and embarrassed that they don’t show more League .

  26. JB May 8, 2010 at 11:10 am -

Again, if Seven seriously want the AFL rights they need to put footy on live. NRL did well last night live in Melbourne and NRL constantly smashes Better Homes & Gardens. And the AFL figures have been pretty poor this year compared to the past. I don’t know why they wouldn’t just put AFL against NRL and have BH&G on Sunday night at 7.30 to get a maximum audience and a chance at winning 5 cities instead of always losing to NRL.

  27. Justin May 8, 2010 at 11:06 am -

Pretty good numbers for NRL game in Melbourne.

  28. koverstreet May 8, 2010 at 11:01 am -

Cripes the footy did well for Nine while on Seven the AFL is getting dismal numbers.

Great to see Collectors still doing well too.

  29. Butters May 8, 2010 at 8:47 am -

Just on the topic of Lost spoilers, surely jamiemion’s comment on this post is pushing the line? Next week’s episode hasn’t aired anywhere yet..

  30. ryan May 7, 2010 at 4:39 pm -

man today tonight and 7 are pathetic. they have a promo for tonights ep about masterchef, Again!

  31. kevin May 7, 2010 at 4:37 pm -

If Matty Johns were to get rid of all those so called funny charactors except Don Kirk. He needs more of the controvercial corner type of show.

Noticed that TAR beat the footy show in Sydney by about 60,000 viewers.

  32. Harry May 7, 2010 at 3:08 pm -

I watched Glee last night only because of Madonnas ‘involvment’. The songs were awesome, Jane Lynch doing ‘Vogue’ was brilliant however the whole story was a little all over the shop in my opinion, glad to see it hit almost 1.3 mill.

  33. ozzzie May 7, 2010 at 2:17 pm -

yeah pacific has been disappointing even though expecting it to match band of brothers is a little optimistic. what made BoB great was that it was one long campaign instead of segmented stories. also BoB had most of the character development during the middle of battles which was more captivating whereas pacific has too many boring scenes in camp or soldiers roaming around doing nothing. with all the hype and buildup surrounding the show, it has currently been a big disappointment.

  34. John May 7, 2010 at 2:10 pm -

The Amazing Race needs a revamp. It’s virtually unchanged since series one.

A celebrity edition with prizes going to charity would be good.

  35. sam May 7, 2010 at 1:03 pm -

amazing race – looks as tho it has run its race………….

  36. Johnson May 7, 2010 at 12:02 pm -

A combination of good promotion and MC lead-in helped Glee to set a new series high.

  37. Tony May 7, 2010 at 12:01 pm -

The Pacific has been very disappointing compared to Band of Brothers. I’m sticking with it, but they still just look like a bunch of frat kids on summer vacation!

  38. Kerri May 7, 2010 at 11:45 am -

Still can’t understand out why 7 dumped CT and HIMYM for Criminal Minds. Hasn’t made much difference. The comedies had 626000 – 628000 viewers on their fiinal night . CM had 687000 last night dropping from 761000 last week. Might be even less next week. Go figure!!!

  39. David Knox May 7, 2010 at 11:17 am -

    Thurs:
    The Morning Show 174,000
    KAK 116,000
    The Circle 64,000
    Ten News 51,000

  40. Nick May 7, 2010 at 11:01 am -

I think Matty Johns is quite safe. Crikey, The NRL Footy Show has been hanging on for 15 years too long, and it’s a paltry 143,000. 7 would be happy with the number one NRL show in the country, I think the audience is refelcting NRL, not Matty Johns.

  41. Mark Od May 7, 2010 at 10:55 am -

Looks like Matty johns show will be getting the flick less than 400.000 in 7.30 time slot is a big worry for 7 a meeting this morning at 7 ?.

  42. vid May 7, 2010 at 10:50 am -

ER on Go! is doing great!! I wonder what number it will get with they air the final ep!!

  43. Craig May 7, 2010 at 10:28 am -

@jamiemion – maybe they will just kill every one off on Lost?

MC again winning the night but TEN still in 3rd, this must be driving them mad! Good to see Glee beat Sea Patrol and what every Seven had on to win it’s time slot as well.

  44. angelsgal May 7, 2010 at 10:25 am -

Go Glee. Awsome episode and well desvered figures. this show is continuing to build just like in the US. Ten should really consider a 30min show after it. Something like Accidently on Purpose, Cleveland, Rules of Engagment, Adults only Simpons. Something thats more compatable with the young Glee audience. A serious crime drama like SVU just doesnt fit, the fun uplifting Glee. It didnt work for Rush either wich started to drop once Glee led into it. They sould act now while 9 have the old skewing Sea Patrol and 7 have Criminal Minds repeats. Ive been flipping to TBBT on go after Glee, instead of staying on ten

  45. Craig(Buzz) May 6, 2010 at 8:03 pm -

I notice the Hey Hey knockers have finally disappeared,as The Pacific has started to fall away lol

  46. David Knox May 6, 2010 at 7:04 pm -

Nelly 1-30 daily plus a selection of 31-100. Some of these shows don’t change much from one day to the next…

  47. jamiemion May 6, 2010 at 5:33 pm -

    mmmm. Lostmmmmmmm.

    Zero answers yet again.

Thankfully next weeks focuses on Jacob & man in blacks past, from 23AD. Wow. The donkey wheel, the rules, their mothers.all will be explained apparently. It better be.

  48. nelly May 6, 2010 at 5:31 pm -

luv hey hey! great :) seems pacific is slipping … problems with serials is if you lose numbers, they hard to pull back hmmm

anyway – david, i know u only put the top 100 up, but sometime i see judge judy up – sometimes not … when it’s not, that mean it didnt make the cut? or just selective (but, i’m sure, necessary) editing? :)

  49. ozzzie May 6, 2010 at 3:16 pm -

not surprising for the ps i love you movie. if u show a chick flick then you are essentially telling all males to switch channels.

  50. David Knox May 6, 2010 at 3:15 pm -

Tony I can’t keep running a TV news site for shows that have clearly aired in Australia and waiting until everybody has finished their own personal viewing, nor keep explaining the site policy ad nauseum over the years, which is debated (again) on that very post as well as noted on this site’s About page.

    Aired = Not a Spoiler.

  51. koverstreet May 6, 2010 at 3:07 pm -

Re WDYTYA it’s winning it’s time slot by the looks of it ,good to see a quality show doing well.

  52. Tony May 6, 2010 at 2:58 pm -

    @chk chk,
It’s bad enough that Friends is on high-rotation on cable!

Hey, David, bit of a nasty “Lost “spoiler there, without reading beyond the headline! I have the show taped.

  53. 2.5 men May 6, 2010 at 1:31 pm -

    RE: Top Gear Repeats

not sure what the problem is. If people (the newer audiences) want to watch episodes they haven’t seen before, they’ll watch it. Where else can they watch the older episodes?

There’s only like 7 new episodes each season/year. Pretty hard to show newer episodes when there isn’t any (or the lack of compared to say a the common full 20+ episodes tv shows)

  54. chk chk May 6, 2010 at 1:31 pm -

so technically Nine won the night even just by a whisker…
Good to see WDYTYA holding up from last week’s numbers, I enjoyed last night’s ep with Lisa Kudrow. Maybe Go! should get the rights of Friends from Ten.

  55. Harry May 6, 2010 at 1:17 pm -

    @ Charlie,
MC is so entertaining and I think people watch because the food they cook is magnificent and also because its so competitive. Its great, well deserved ratings. PS I Love You bombed..

  56. Craig May 6, 2010 at 12:54 pm -

I thought Lost would do better last night on 7TWO and the main channel. Makes me wonder what numbers the 2.5 hour final will get on the main channel in a few weeks.

  57. bigkev May 6, 2010 at 12:52 pm -

So….. those predicting hey hey would fail…….ummm……. remaining pretty consistent to me

  58. Charlie May 6, 2010 at 12:29 pm -

Happy to see Hey Hey pick up this week. It will probably do better in the 2nd half of year when Masterbore is no longer on. I can’t believe MC rates so well, it’s people cooking!!
