Tonight i reckon Masterchef will crack the 2 mil mark

  2. ryan June 6, 2010 at 3:43 pm -

one hd should pick up tennis, Its time they spent some money buying rights to better sports for one hd. Ten should also show replays of the afl matches during the week.

The Lost finale sucked and i am still bitter about it.

  4. SGT.PEPPER June 6, 2010 at 3:05 pm -

@Fedexeon Exactly, Basically all the other grand slams are shown live except for the French.

I hope 9 has learned from this.

  5. Tasmanian de√il June 6, 2010 at 1:55 pm -

@ Boogie Howser – No-one ever declared Biggest Loser’s ratings drop was because of a crappy lead in, in fact the “argument” seems to have been made up by 7pm Project fans in a poor attempt to make the doubters look stupid. The real reason, which 7pm Project fans didn’t seem to listen to, was the tougher competition in the 7:30 slot. Fans being overprotective of their favourite show when no-one was actually accusing it of anything, and another case of “if you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it”.

  6. Fedexeon June 6, 2010 at 12:41 pm -

Yeah, excellent ratings for the French Open. I hope Nine or any FTA tv channels would start showing more of the French Open in the future. It’s a wonderful tournament, in fact i think all 4 tennis grand slam tournaments deserve good coverage.

  7. koverstreet June 6, 2010 at 10:42 am -

Looks like the tennis has likely helped Nine win the week.

  12. Rutzie June 5, 2010 at 12:40 am -

David would you be able to find out why ONE isn’t showing the NBA Finals live. I’m fortunate enough to have ESPN but for those people who have been watching the Playoffs and the entire season on ONE I don’t think they’d be to happy. The 1st game of the series was on friday morning but ONE aren’t showing it until Sunday morning. Even if they can’t show it live why the massive 2 day delay in showing it.

185000 for graham norton? Im really surprised considering how he manages to be hysterical week after week

Hey guys just wanted to let you know Neighbours only ever once got 1 million with masterchef as its lead out. And this time last year Masterchef at 7:00 on a thursday was only doing about 1.3. So 7PM is doing extremely well. At about 7:05 last night over 1 million were watching the 7PM Project so I wouldn’t be using MC as the excuse.

  15. DAN June 4, 2010 at 7:47 pm -

just watched last nights mc online and noooo jake got eliminated i wanted him to win and is it just me or dose anyone else want Maggie Beer to become a guest judge rather than Donna hay

  16. Mr. Do-Bee June 4, 2010 at 7:30 pm -

The race is on between Seven and Nine to see who can produce he first 7pm Project clone.

  17. Jarred June 4, 2010 at 7:01 pm -

    @ Nick
The thing is, MC is rating better this year and 7PM project has been on air for a while now and has more fans than last year. This year, 7PM project’s viewer numbers were increasing before MC even started and now, 7PM viewer numbers are at all time highs (they will drop when MC finishes but not back to their pre-MC levels). I think this year is a completely different situation than last year and I think 7PM will benefit when MC finishes, more so than last year.

  18. Nick June 4, 2010 at 6:04 pm -

“did you ever think that 7Pm will retain some of the MC viewers when MC finishes?”

It didn’t retain viewers for very long last year, even though it replaced Masterchef and was in the same time slot as Masterchef and had been advertised non-stop throughout the final weeks of Masterchef.

  19. Jarred June 4, 2010 at 4:54 pm -

Wow! 7PM Project beat all of its timeslot competitors. I never thought I’d see the day.

Also, for those who say that when MC is finished, 7PM’s ratings will drop, well, did you ever think that 7Pm will retain some of the MC viewers when MC finishes? That 1.1 mil figure is no doubt helped by that fact that MC is on afterwards, but I think 7PM is reaching more people now and more people are beginning to like, and will continue watching it. The 7PM figure will drop when MC finishes, but not back to its level before MC began.

  20. JB June 4, 2010 at 4:19 pm -

7PM Project #1 in timeslot and in the top 10. In your face. I’m glad they stuck with it because it is the only thing i’d watch at 7o’clock. And those saying it’s only Masterchef that’s helping it. It wasn’t Masterchef’s highest rating night, yet 7PM peaked for the year, so obviously people are tuning in to watch the show.

6-7 is still killing Ten though. My only option for them would be 7PM Project moved to 6.30 with Masterchef following at 7. Which leaves 6-6.30 which could be game show (a good one) or someone mentioned Huey’s Cooking. Neighbours, either do us all a favour and axe it or move to 4.30.

  21. koverstreet June 4, 2010 at 1:53 pm -

@ kenny – they are for the half hour but many people probably tune in to 10 before 7.30 to wait for MC. Same happened with Neighbours last year getting 900k-1m when MC was on at 7pm. Neighbours hasn’t gotten close to that since. If 7pm stays at the 1m mark great as I’m a fan of the show but it’ll drop back down to 700-800k ish once MC is finished.

  22. Kenny June 4, 2010 at 12:59 pm -

@koverstreet & darryn – so the figs for 7PM were because the show ran 4 mins over time? So how are the “figures” for the “program” calculated? Average of minute-by-minute? Average of who’s watching at 7 and at 7:30? or what? If the figures are “rubbish” then what are the correct figures and how are these obtained? Please explain? (sorry Pauline).

  23. Boogie Howser June 4, 2010 at 12:30 pm -

When Biggest Loser was down in the ratings our esteemed posters declared it was all because of their crappy lead-in, The 7pm Project. How’s that lead-in argument looking now? Maybe MasterChef would be rating 2.5 million without it. Or maybe it was never the case…

  24. Tony Bee June 4, 2010 at 12:00 pm -

I agree the 7pm Project has found its groove. I like it because at least it’s “current” and usually a bit of a laugh. It just goes to prove that networks should persevere with shows and give them the time to find their audience.

  25. ryan June 4, 2010 at 11:51 am -

Rove should be paying fremantle media! luckiest show ever.

  26. darryn June 4, 2010 at 11:36 am -

Those figures for 7pm are a load of rubbish and 10 knows it.

  27. Nick June 4, 2010 at 11:35 am -

Build it and they will come. 7PM Project – Over 1m and better still, in the Thursday Top 10. I think the strenght of 7PM will not dip below 850k-900k now. Great job to Roving Ent.

  28. koverstreet June 4, 2010 at 11:15 am -

@ kenny – a lead out can also help as many people tune in at the end to wait for MC & this boosts the numbers. Last year Neighbours benefited the same way and was getting 1m at times. I’m a big fan of 7pm but it will drop off somewhat when MC ends.

  29. shae June 4, 2010 at 10:57 am -

Go 7PM Project!!!! i am finding the show way mroe enjoyable now then i have before.. its really finiding its place in the world.. here is hoping that its not just a MC thing and that it can keep the ratings going strong after M concludes in July..

Once again Well Done 7PM Project Team..

Glee is really benefitting from the MC lead in.. such a good place to put it.. Love that.. Go Glee

  30. Kenny June 4, 2010 at 10:40 am -

So 7PM is succeeding because of MC, which follows 7PM, not leads in. The lead in was 647K. So 451,000 actually switched to TEN at 7pm for 7PM. There was no lead in advantage.
“when MC finishes i think 7PM will sink”. What’s the logical thinking behind that statement?

  31. ant June 4, 2010 at 10:38 am -

7pm doubter put your hands ups…..HAHA…

  32. Kenny June 4, 2010 at 10:35 am -

7pm Project #1 in its timeslot. 1m+. Whoda thought! I must say, my kids (13,15) and I have abandoned H&A in favour of 7pmP. It’s become The intellegent “current affairs” ahow, with no “surveys” on best meat pies/bras/butchers/supermarkets/etc., bogan renters, shonky tradesmen, PR segments and program promos.

  33. DAN June 4, 2010 at 10:23 am -

i agree with others go MC great show

wow 7pm cracked the magic million and not only that it actually won its timeslot when MC finishes i think 7PM will sink

  34. Adam June 4, 2010 at 10:21 am -

    Whoa OMG finally!
Stoked that 7PM Project has finally nailed Home & Away, Two&Half Men and A Current Affair… I hope this is the turning point in Australian television…

  35. nwest June 4, 2010 at 10:21 am -

Glee 1.4 m and 7PM Project 1.1 m…TEN must be loving the flow on effect of MC. Well done to all. 7PM Project has certainly hit it’s straps and is a tight, well produced show that deserves the success it is now getting.

  36. Brenton June 4, 2010 at 10:20 am -

Is that the first time The 7pm Project has beaten Home And Away?

  37. Vinnie June 4, 2010 at 10:17 am -

Wow, The 7pm Project takes #7 spot, beating Home & Away; certainly helped that Pauly Perette was on last night

  38. redbullboy June 4, 2010 at 10:13 am -

The 7pm Project first in its time slot on Thursday night and finally cracking the 1 million mark – great news. Although it is likely to have been boosted as the lead in to MC, its still a great result.

  39. GO MC June 4, 2010 at 10:08 am -

Looks like MasterChef will be hitting the 2mil mark next week…..and still there is 5 weeks to go!! Early prediction 5.5mil finale for 5 city metro

  40. bogan pride June 3, 2010 at 9:30 pm -

goMC. What’s the problem? You don’t pay for hhis to be on. It hasn’t taken the place of your fav show. No one is forcing you to watch the show. So why the drama? A lot of hhis haters need to realise. That in the real world out side of their computer room. People, who are just as intelligent and “cultured” have different taste. Myself, i’d rather watch chuck, than hhis or mc. If i can’t watch chuck, i would rather watch hhis.

  41. ryan June 3, 2010 at 7:00 pm -

I talk about masterchef to my work mates and when i am customers always put in their opinion aswell and we all end up talking about it.

  42. Eye Spy June 3, 2010 at 6:15 pm -

Totally agree with GO MC. Hey hey is pathetic and there must be a million very bored people out there. Sounds a lot still but if my maths is right means about 4% of the population which is more assuring.

  43. Trev June 3, 2010 at 5:37 pm -

@ Jarred. Last year MC started slowly then gradually increased its audience, but still had its ups and downs. This time last year it was averaging around 1.3 – 1.5 million. This year it hit its straps and has averaged around 1.5 mill from day one until now when it looks likely to break through the 2 mill mark. Its audience is way up on last year despite the judges becoming legends in their own minds.
As for me, I find myself unable to stomach more than 15 minutes of it and regard a test pattern to be more exciting and entertaining to watch. Give me Huey any day, at least you can eat most of the stuff he cooks.

  44. vrom June 3, 2010 at 5:00 pm -

@CK I too aim in my early 20s, and I can’t stand MC! I’ve tried to get into it but i simply can’t because I think its boring. I also have friends that don’t think much of the show either and neither they know people who are fans of MC. But do we live in a unique or small place? Nope – we live in big smoke Melbourne!

I will admit there is no doubt with those numbers MC has been a huge success and a hit with viewers – no one can disagree with that – and I don’t have anything against people who do watch it. Its just that those all of us who don’t watch MC don’t because it simply doesn’t appeal to us whatsoever.

  45. Jarred June 3, 2010 at 4:06 pm -

I thought MC was going to loose it’s credibility because of the controversy with the rigging of the show (when I say rigging I mean that they get another chance at re-making a dish). The show seems to be going from strength to strength. Is it rating better than last year?? I never really took any notice.

  46. Sarah June 3, 2010 at 3:44 pm -

@bob those are PTTR re-runs though and on 7two. I highly doubt Seven will run their new episodes on that time when it comes back on, let alone that channel.

  47. CK June 3, 2010 at 3:36 pm -

    @scott – where abouts do u live?
Me and my friends (from victoria) are in our early 20s and we are all addicted – we love it! and so does my family.
I know plenty of ppl who not only watch it but love it, so you must live in a very unique or small place not to find someone who hasnt watched it!
Give it ago – it can be a bit over the top but overall addictive television

  48. Harry June 3, 2010 at 3:30 pm -

I love MC, its such a great show – those are some mammoth numbers!

  49. Goonies June 3, 2010 at 3:09 pm -

@ Scott – me thinks your colleagues and friends protest too much! Probably think they are too good to watch and it is their dirty little secret. :)

  50. ryan June 3, 2010 at 3:02 pm -

awesome ep of masterchef last night, loved when that guy went off at claire about putting food on the bench. Great to see ten win the night cause they deserve it. When will masterchef hit 2.2?

  51. bob June 3, 2010 at 1:42 pm -

Packed to the Rafters is on sunday nights 6.30 or 7.30

The utterly bizarre thing about Masterchef is that I simply have never come across anyone who watches it regularly nor anyone who has ever seen it!

I am sure the ratings are accurate but I am a fairly average person (mid thirties, married, two young children, employed full time) and nobody amidst my family, friends, work colleagues etc watches it – yet those people encompass most if not all of the key demographics.

All I get from people I talk to is, ‘looks rubbish,’ ‘got better things to do’, ‘Its only a silly cooking show’ and so on. It just seems bizarre that not only can I not find people who dislike it but literally cannot find a person who has seen a single video field of it!

Good to see Hey Hey numbers staying pretty consistent.

Seems like MasterCrap having an effect mainly on Seven which is good. Seven’s schedule this year is terrible.

Hey Hey where did all the ratings go?

Maybe there see the name, tune in Saturday night and get confused LOL

Good on TEN wining the night, hope for many more to come!

Halfway through the year, is it Nine or Seven in the lead? Nine’s first quarter was quiet, while Seven is a ghost town (bar news, tt and H&a) for the second quarter. I think Seven will streak home with Packed to the Rafters and City Homicide, but Nine seem to have the goods on them in 2010.

“Daryl and the gang” need to disappear and stop wasting airtime with their moronic 1970 style “entertainment” I mean seriosuly Daryl, dont you yourself find it humiliating after all these years talking to a muppet on a stick and amusing only yourself and a few people that have either rusted on to you or channel nine? Leave tv with some dignity Daryl.

Also can we please give all sport to Ten/ONE!!! I wanted to watch Stosur match, stayed up to watch but realised it was only highlights of match i already knew the result. Just what’s the point of that Nine? And a bit hypocritical considering they have a go at Seven for not showing live sport, yet they can’t show us an Aussie playing world number one for a spot in the semis.

Ten have Junior Masterchef later in the year and I understand it’ll be more than the one night a week format of Celebrity Masterchef – so it mightn’t get any easier for Hey Hey How the Hell Did We Get Back on Air? during its second run of eps…

Masterchef dominates. Good to see Lie To Me get good figures too, great episode.
And the spoiler did work for Deal Or No Deal. By telling people that get huge numbers tuning in each night to see if it was her, which would help numbers, and then guarantee a massive number for the actual night, so i guess it was smart by Seven. They should have just shown all five and said one will win this week and get huge numbers watching til the end each night.

@Rutzie, DWTS better not move to Tuesday because it will always run overtime and push Rafters back. Rafters is their #1 show they wouldn’t want to mess with it.
