1.9m for Australia’s Got Talent

1.93m viewers watched Justice Crew take out the Grand Final of Seven's Australia's Got Talent -#1 for the night.

It was a a big, fat 1.93m viewers for the finale of Australia’s Got Talent last night, delivering Seven a huge 32.2% share over its rivals.

The show was won by dance troupe Justice Crew, pocketing a big $250,000 cheque -2.5 times bigger than MasterChef‘s loot.

The Grand Final Verdict beat MasterChef‘s 1.75m and crushed Top Gear‘s 1.04m.

It also beat Modern Family which netted a strong 1.48m and the NCIS finale on 1.44m.

Curiously, on a day when Sydney had a big news tragedy, there were more viewers watching News in Melbourne. Seven News in Sydney won its market on 389,000 while Nine News won in Melbourne on 472,000.

A World Cup New Zealand v Slovakia game pulled a huge 547,000 viewers for SBS.

For the second night in a row Nine had to settle for third place and is now trailing Seven by nearly 3 percentage points in a week with State of Origin.

  1. The saddest part: On any other week, 7 would have a good shot on winning the week, with a score like that. This week it will likely play second fiddle to State Of Origin, which has probably given 9 a boost.

  2. @ RichoTB – I’m thinking “Just – a – screw” possibly? Anyway, I don’t watch AGT and would never have picked up on it if nobody had mentioned it, so it’s just a guess.

  3. doesn’t masterchef make 1.8/1.9 million each night? if this is the best 7 can come up with to beat the absolute flogging masterchef’ is giving everyone else in the ratings then they have failed, reminds me of the biggest loser finale.

  4. I enjoyed AGT this year and Justice Crew were awesome to watch. I thought that having Kyle on the panel was a wrong call but i actually enjoyed him and Brian. Kyle wasn’t to outspoken and i actually think he enjoyed being on the panel.

  5. I assume Kyle now has done his public penance and is in everyone’s good books? The show itself has improved in terms of style and seems to have benefited from some fresh faces in it.

I’d also like to pause for a moment and say that on Monday – after 27 years on our screens – The Bill finally finished production in the UK. Hopefully the final episode will be a cracker!

  6. I don’t get it either but I also don’t get the appeal of Master Chief and most other reality shows… each to their own I say. There are plenty of other things to watch if you don’t like it.

  7. Well done Australian Talent, you were all terrific winners.
All in all a very well put together show. Kyle S was great on the judging panel and I hope Ch7 keep him.

  8. Well, the winners (“Justice Crew”) certainly picked a catchy name for the group…
    Clever name, guys.
Kinda surprised no-one’s picked up on it yet…

  9. Who on earth actually watches AGT? I seriously have never heard anyone so much as mention it, and yet it’s one of the highest rating shows of the year. I’d be interested to see its demographics, maybe it’s mainly attracting families.

  10. quite good considering it’s more that 300k up on last year with much stronger competition, and people thought it would bomb with kyle sandilands. but it is a bit disapointing that few people watched rom the beginning and missed briannas opening musical.

very entertaining night, why can’t we have something of that standard for the logies or arias? just replace the eliminations with awards and it would be a huge step up from what we are getting and i doubt it would cost that much more.
