ABC nabs Luther and Strike Back

The ABC has picked up detective drama, Luther and action-drama Strike Back, both from the UK.

The ABC has picked up two UK dramas, Luther and Strike Back.

Luther stars Idris Elba (The Wire) as a brilliant detective tormented by the darker side of humanity. The 6×50 BBC psychological thriller is driven by the intellectual but emotionally compromised detective as he negotiates the hearts and minds of criminals while struggling with demons of his own.

Strike Back is a 3×90’ a story of deception, redemption and revenge, centred around two former soldiers and a past event that will link their future. Based on the international best-seller by ex-SAS soldier Chris Ryan and starring Richard Armitage (Spooks, Robin Hood) and Andrew Lincoln (Afterlife, This Life), described as a “non-stop action that is unrelenting and powerful in its delivery.”

Marena Manzoufas, ABC TV’s Head of Programming, said, “ABC TV is delighted to have acquired these two new contemporary dramas. Our audience will really engage with these stories and having some actors very familiar to our viewers, such as Richard Armitage and Andrew Lincoln, is an extra bonus.”

Both will air later in 2010.

  1. Looking forward to seeing stringer bell back on screen again 🙂

Does anyone know when we can expect to see spooks back on our screens?

  2. These both sound great!
They’ll make a change from the dreaded Poiret and Miss Marple, both well past their prime.
I’m currently watching season 3 of The Tudors, and recording season 4.
This is an absolutely brilliant series, and ABC audiences are missing out on a real treat. It would be perfect for the ABC.

  3. Unlike Pietro i watched 2 episodes of this show and loved it. I didn’t get a chance to watch the rest of the series sadly, and so i am very pleased Luther is coming to ABC.
