Airdate: Dr. Oz.

The dates are locked in. Dr. Oz and General Hospital will air on the W Channel from early July.

Dr. Oz and General Hospital will air on the W Channel from July 5th as part of a new daytime schedule alongside The Young and the Restless, The View, Oprah and Dr Phil.

General Hospital episodes will screen 10 weeks after their US premiere.

In its 47th year, General Hospital is one of the longest running television dramas in the world and is the most nominated show for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards. General Hospital still holds the record for the highest rating hour of daytime drama ever for drawing a US audience of 17.5 million viewers in 1981 for the wedding of one its super couples, Luke and Laura Spencer.

W’s acquisition of General Hospital will provide the channel with the powerful and exclusive programming double of The Young and the Restless at midday* and General Hospital at 12.50pm weekdays.

Cardiac surgeon and best-selling author Dr Mehmet Oz is the newest addition to W’s heavy-hitting talk show ranks: joining Oprah Winfrey, Dr Phil McGraw and the ladies of The View. Dr Oz is already well-known to Oprah viewers because of his five year stint as the show’s health expert and Winfrey’s Harpo Productions, along with Sony Pictures Television, produces The Dr Oz Show. In its launch season, the series has already earned the Doctor his first nomination in the Daytime Emmy competition for Most Outstanding Talk Show Host.

W’s weekday line up from July 5 is:
11.10am The View (Australian Television Premiere Episodes)
12.00pm The Young and the Restless (Exclusive to W) Plus encores at 2.25am and 7.10am the following weekday
12.50pm General Hospital (Exclusive to W) Plus encores at 3.10am and 7.55am the following weekday
1.40pm Encore episode of W’s 7.30pm drama from previous weeknight
2.30pm Dr Phil
3.25pm Oprah
4.20pm The Dr Oz Show (Exclusive to W) plus an encore screening at 10.20am the following weekday

*All times are AEST.

Guys massive apology for incorrectly listing Days when it clearly should have been General Hospital. Someone needs a holiday! Doh!

  2. Nine should’ve dropped Days of Our Lives from late February this year and after a month hiatus should’ve aired on W.
This should’ve been the schedule from late March:

    11:10am Boston Legal (M)
12.00pm The Young and the Restless (Exclusive to W) Plus encores at 7.10am the following weekday

  3. Days is safe on Channel 9 . Its really if its axed in America that fans have to worry about. I believe Channel 9 would screen it to its natural final episode if it ever has one…
Now we hope GH is safe on W like Y & R is .The last time GH and Y&R screened on the same channel was in 1991.That was before GH started its channel jumping 6 times . Now W can be the permanent home of it .

  4. David, you haven’t mentioned a time for Days of Our Lives?? Do you know how far behind the US broadcast W channel will be? Is channel 9 dropping the show?
    Thanks
