Arrest warrant out on former Survivor producer

Former Survivor producer Bruce Beresford-Redman has been charged with the brutal murder of his wife in Cancun.

Former Survivor producer Bruce Beresford-Redman has been charged with the brutal murder of his wife in Cancun.

Beresford-Redman, also the co-creator of MTV’s Pimp My Ride, has long been the prime suspect in the strangulation of his wife, Monica. Her body was found in a sewer near the five-star resort where they had been holidaying in April.

State prosecutors filed the charges in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, leading a judge there to issue an arrest warrant for Beresford-Redman. Mexican authorities stated they would use all means at their disposal, including extradition, to have the producer brought to justice in Mexico.

Television news crews camped outside of Beresford-Redman’s home, gambling on the possibility that U.S. Marshals would come for him at the behest of Mexican authorities. It didn’t happen.

“I am incensed at the suggestion that I could have had anything to do with her death,” he said in a statement. “My children have had one parent take from them by a senseless act of violence.”

TMZ reports that Monica’s family is “elated the [extradition] process has finally begun.

“We are hopeful that Monica will finally get the justice she deserves,” they said in a statement.

The lawyer for her family then goes on to target Beresford-Redman, saying, “We do not buy his newly found contrition. It has been 56 days since Monica was brutally murdered. At no point during that time, did he or his family reach out to the Burgos family to express their sympathy …”

The lawyer complains, “The only thing that Bruce Beresford-Redman has done since the day Monica went missing was request and pay for her immediate cremation.”

Meanwhile in other Survivor news villainous contestant Russell Hantz is officially off the hook for allegedly attacking someone at a street festival last month.

The District Attorney in Lafayette, LA, has decided not to file criminal charges against the reality star — the decision was reportedly made at “the victim’s request.”

Hantz was thrown into jail for allegedly shoving someone to the floor at the festival.
