Entourage movie to cap off the series

Mark Wahlberg, executive producer of Entourage, says next year will be the show's last season.

Mark Wahlberg, executive producer of Entourage, says next year will be the show’s last season.

But he has plans for an Entourage movie.

“I am more focused on making that movie than my own films,” Wahlberg said. “I just think we can make a great movie. I think people always wanted (it) and have complained that the episodes are too short — they’ve always wanted more. I think we’re going to do it.”

“I think we’re going to do it. We just have to end strong, and this season is, by far, the best season so far,” he said. “We’re going to have six episodes next year and end with a bang and then in the trailer you see (Ari Gold and his associate, Lloyd) waking up together in Vegas not knowing what happened.”

Season seven starts this month in the US although it’s not clear if the season will be split into two parts.

  1. @Jack Ari Gold is a “toned down” version of real life agent Ari Emanuel, I might be wrong but I think he is actually Jeremy Priven’s agent.

  2. you may be right about Ari being one dimensional but as for an American talent agent, he is spot on (well how they present themselves)!!

There was actually a William Morris agent (maybe the head at one stage) called Ari somebody. Don’t think they could actually use his name but ive always wondered if it was a dig or an in joke having Ari the character.

  3. I didn’t intentionally mean to compare the two they’re not the same they’re not in the same league at all; I just haven’t been obsessed with a show like I am with Entourage since Friends that’s all; everyone has their own taste.

Like Jack feels about Party Down; I’ve seen Season 1 and its ok; but its not entourage not even close; but that’s my opinion.

  4. I’m so happy it’s ending just so I can stop watching it. It’s an easy watch but really it’s pretty bad. Funny occasionally but absolutely no drama, incredibly shallow, Ari is completely one dimensional (and to think Jeremy Piven was so truly excellent in Cupid), and the rest of the characters are almost all completely bland, not very likeable or both.

Party Down, on the other hand, is everything Entourage isn’t, both in its premise and tone, and as entertainment. One of the greatest, if not The greatest, shows of the past two years, and already a high ranker among all-time greats.

  5. Season 6 focused too much on E but was still one of the best. Season 4 was the weakest season…possibly due to writers strike?
Drama is probably behind bars in this jail scene.

  6. Great news, I’m loving Entourage, altho on FTA so I’m behind. Barret, Ari is def the best character in the show but you’d want to punch him occasionally, and that’s if he was your friend.

  7. Love Entourage, shame to see it come to an end, but its been showing signs of aging so i’d be happier to see it go out on a high, and with a movie as well they’ll pull out all stops.

Agreed with Friends; would not even compare the two, it was woeful!!!

  8. Bloody hate split seasons! Ozzie it looks like their in a jail judging by the grill behind Ari, E Looks shitty, Lloyd sad and Vinnie / Turtle amused I wonder where Drama could be?

  9. I don’t get the comment about 6 episodes next year? Are they saying their airing 6 episodes of season 7 now and 6 next year followed by a season 8 or are they saying they’re going to do a 6 episode 8th Season? I do not like that!

I want 12 episodes in Season 7 this year and 12 episodes in Season 8 next year, followed by a movie.

Last season of Entourage was pretty ordinary but I don’t doubt the team can’t pull together and make the show awesome again.

I think this will be that one show that I’ll actually miss when it isn’t on air; I haven’t felt about a show like I do about Entourage since Friends left the air in 2004. Entourage is my favourite show in a long, long time.
