Laurie left lingering
Wednesday's breaking news even left Nine's Laurie Oakes in the lurch on air for a moment, but thankfully he didn't let slip with anything he might regret saying.

…and in the interests of political balance….
Nine News had a momentary technical glitch that left Laurie Oakes looking lost on Wednesday night.
A big deal? Not really. But kinda funny for a moment there…
When Kellie Connolly crossed to Oakes his audio must have been down.
Kellie: “We cross straight to Nine’s Chief Political Editor, Laurie Oakes. Laurie what are you hearing?”
[cut to Oakes clearly not hearing anything]
Oakes shook his head to indicate a problem, but thankfully didn’t say anything he might regret.
Kellie:Â “It appears Laurie’s not hearing me at the moment….”
You can say that again.
When the sound came back Oakes also corrected Connolly after she told viewers Labor factions had been to see Rudd over his leadership.
A few more Breaking News nights like this and someone could cut together a blooper reel of all our networks.

The 430 nine news left pete o on screen during the intro live to air unaware.
Was funny seeing him say ‘she’s done up to the nines ain’t she. ‘
And on seeing a crying Rudd ‘sad to see’

I laughed so hard when this happened, this was worthy of SNL or something.
He was having the same audio issues on Thursday during the daytime coverage as well.
Wehave just re arranged the deckchairs on the Titanic. Juilia Guillotine was at her sharpest yesterday. She was overheard to be singing “One day my knife will come”.
This also happened on the Today Show. I’ve got a feeling it had very little to do with technical glitches and that in actual fact, Laurie is just going deaf.
