No Ordinary Family: trailer

By David Knox on June 18, 2010 / Filed Under News 11

Here is the trailer to No Ordinary Family, the forthcoming US series in which a family has super-powers.

There are moments that look a little Misfits, and probably others that are Greatest American Hero or Heroes. But it looks like fun.

One Hollywood Reporter scribe says, “When I heard about the show, I expected a drama. No Ordinary Family best resembles a comedy. It’s bright and sunny with bouncy music, jokey dialogue and the lead characters (played by Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz) giving on-camera confessionals. It’s aiming to be like Modern Family with supernatural powers. But when fighting crime is played this softly, it’s tough to take the action seriously.

Should be coming to Seven….

Wow, announced in June 2010, been advertised in January 2011 and it is still not on… Now I know why people download TV episodes…

Looks like Heroes crossed with According to Jim, so basically it’s the TV version of The Incredibles, which wasn’t all that good.

this looks really good, although its hard to see Michael Chiklis as anyone else except Vic Mackey

Looks like some fun, a happy blend of Heroes and Modern Family

Looks good. I’ve liked what both leads have done so far. Chiklis’s character is a bit like “The Thing” from Fantastic 4 but without the skin condition.

I really like the look of this. Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz are both TV stalwarts, so I think they’ll do a great job of anchoring the show. A good mix of action, light comedy and a tinge of drama. I’ll be tuning in…

As for comparisions to Modern Family, if the scripts are even half as good they might be in with a chance. Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd have redefined the half hour sitcom. I can’t remember the last time I laughed out loud during a 30 minute US comedy, but between Sofia Vergara (Gloria) and Eric Stonestreet (Cameron), I am consistently busting a gut!

Live action version of The Incredibles.

God I hope it is nothing like that awful Modern Family. I do not get the interest in that show.
Good to see Julie Benz back on a full time series.
