Renewed: Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad has been renewed for a fourth season, following its most popular so far.

Breaking Bad has been renewed for a fourth season, according to media reports -no surprise given the third season has been its most popular so far.

Both producers and AMC and Sony are said to have agreed on a budget for each episode after the network wanted $3.1 million per episode, while the show’s creative team was eyeing $3.3 million.

Writer Vince Gilligan has said the series would likely run for two more seasons and that he intends to set an end date.

“It would definitely be easier to know when we were ending,” he said.

“But it’s a tricky equation and not just up to me. As with every other TV show out there, you’re employing 150-200 people and you want to keep people working for as long as you can. It would be nice to know exactly how long we had left so we can write to it as thoroughly as possible and tie up all our loose ends. But I don’t foresee that happening.

“The way Lost did it was nice, but I think setting an end date will continue to be an anomaly in the business.

Breaking Bad is currently airing 8:30pm Wednesdays on Showcase.

  1. Andrew, it’s better for the show’s staff to end it than have it drag on and be ancelled by the network. Also since they are saying it in advance it would mean they have a fairly good idea of how they going to end (also good).

  2. As usual last nights episode was fantastic and left me close to a heart attack. Brilliant show with an equally brilliant cast. Counting the days until season 4.

  3. aww no, 2 more seasons? whaat! that’s bs. such a talented show gone to waste. if memory serves me correctly, hasn’t alot of the trash on 7 and 9 like desperate housewives and brothers and sisters had a longer run than top quality shows like breaking bad? still, battlestar ended after only 4 seasons and went down in history as a work of art so maybe breaking bad could do with an ending. still i agree with the comment that they should be employing those 150-200 ppl for as long as possible, especially the actors.
