Community Television programmes were recently lauded by the Antenna Awards, while Channel 31 Melbourne unveiled its new logo.

Community Television programmes were recently lauded by the Antenna Awards, an annual event recognising community shows from across Australia.

The night was held at the BMW Edge at Melbourne’s Federation Square.

The winners were:

Program of the Year: Dare I Ask?
Outstanding Contribution to Community Television by an Individual: Daryl Pitman
Outstanding Live or Outside Broadcast Program: The Inquiry
Outstanding Factual, Current Affairs or Interview Program: Dare I Ask?
Outstanding Information or Lifestyle Program: Horse Talk TV
Outstanding Sports Program: The Local Footy Show
Outstanding Outdoor or Recreational Program: Hound TV
Outstanding Female Presenter: The Naughty Rude Show- Jackie Doran
Outstanding Young Persons Program: The Naughty Rude Show
Outstanding Original Theme Music Composition: Dancing about Architecture- Ben Birchall & Dave McGann
Outstanding Music Program: Asylum TV
Outstanding Arts Program: Fusion Latina
Outstanding Male Presenter: Socially Inadequate- Mitch McTaggart
Outstanding Comedy Program: The Mutant Way
Outstanding Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Program: The Pinoy Lounge

Channel 31 also took the opportunity to unveil its new logo.

  1. I don’t see why SBS wasn’t allocated the LCNs 4 + 40 through 49 – that way all the Channel 31s around Australia could have kept their channel number…but that would be too much common sense!

  2. What are they thinking launching a new logo as “Channel 31”?
    This would have been a great opportunity to rename the station, preferably with a non-numerical name that would be fine for both analogue (31) and digital (44) broadcasts.

  3. Seeing as C31 is on digital LCN 44, perhaps they should have rebranded it as “44” to create a stronger brand awareness….

    LCN 31 is actually SBS1.
