New exec for BBC Worldwide Australia

Deirdre Brennan will become the new Director of Television at BBC Worldwide Australia as Brendan Dahill exits to ABC1.

BBC Worldwide Australia has appointed Deirdre Brennan as the Director of Television, to replace Brendan Dahill who becomes the new Channel Controller for ABC1.

Brennan will be responsible for production, programming, acquisitions, on-air promotions and presentation for UKTV and UKTV NZ, BBC Knowledge and CBeebies.

She joins BBC Worldwide from Nickelodeon Australia, where she has been Director of Programming since 2007. Prior to this she orked for the ABC as ABC Kids Programmer and also held senior marketing, production and event management roles.

Tony Iffland, BBC Worldwide Australia’s General Manager, said, “Deirdre brings a wealth of knowledge, vision and skill to this role. She has made a dynamic contribution to Australia’s subscription television industry. BBC Worldwide Channels is set for an exciting period of growth, and Deirdre is ideally suited to strengthen its position in the Australasian television landscape.”

Deirdre Brennan added, “It is a great privilege to join Tony Iffland and the BBC Worldwide Channels team. The opportunity to be involved with their unique content and brands is incredibly exciting.”

She will join the company on August 25.

  1. Well i will respond to this item – saying what a great woman Deirdre is. I had the pleasure of working with her during our long shared history at the ABC. She has great energy and ideas. She has more personality than any executive i’ve ever met! Hope she shines in this significant role.
