FremantleMedia Australia this week optioned two US reality formats.
Behind the Camera follows the lengths freelance camera operators go to in order to break news stories.
The second format, Skid Row, is about people who live in society’s underbelly who reunite with their families after undergoing makeovers.
Both have been licensed from LA-based production company RMG News & Entertainment.

These ideas sound particularly dire, but its not just Fremantle who have dropped the ball, all of them are TERRIBLE. There hasn’t been a decent sit-com made in this country in years (ok maybe Kath & Kim but thats it). This is a country full of comedians and comic writers…wtf?!
We need a BBC equivalent who are open to reading unsolicited scripts and who actually have a budget. I think the issue is that the people who commission things are business people, not creative types who might have a clue. They don’t want to know about anything that doesn’t already have a proven track record, which is why they will go for this pathetic American garbage.
One suspects Nathan is a recent AFTRS or NIDA graduate.
If it was April first today i would be inclined to think the 2nd one was an April Fools joke, do we have to copy the Americans tasteless cr@p?!?!?
Freemantle literally have no ideas!
Freemantle do some more comedy shows. These reality projects seem really tacky!
Nathan Freo is currently producing two dramas and just put a new comedy on air (which didn’t work), as well as lifestyle and reality. This isn’t an either / or situation.
They couldn’t put money into developing Australian Drama or a Comedy series.
Is it just me, or have fremantlemedia really dropped the ball. First Australia Versus, now these hideous titles.
