Nine 2010: Pt II

By David Knox on July 22, 2010 / Filed Under Programming 57

Nine has spruiked its upcoming shows for 2010 to advertisers in a glam showreel fronted by Kate Ritchie and Damian Walshe-Howling.

Top Gear Australia will launch with an “international special event.” The Farmer Wants a Wife has “a new twist.” Big promises to be a supersized version of The Biggest Loser but has “no tricks, no competitions and no humiliation” hosted by Deborah Hutton. Random Acts of Kindness features Karl Stefanovic, Simone Jade-McKinnon and Scott Cam. Russell Crowe again narrates The Secret Millionaire.

Cricket will start earlier, in November.

GO! will fastrack Season 3 of Fringe, Season 2 of V, Season 2 of Community, Season 2 of The Middle and Season 2 of The Vampire Diaries. There will be new seasons of Wife Swap and Wipeout.

Fringe? Is season 3 going to air on GO or not?! Have been eagerly awaiting for six months! Love this series featuring two very talented Aussie actors.

  2. Ell July 24, 2010 at 12:11 am -

So…I’m guessing about five of these will actually make it to air in 2010?

  3. Jimmy July 23, 2010 at 7:52 pm -

    No flashpoint :(

  4. Grace July 23, 2010 at 1:34 pm -

There is a fair bit of good news in that list – The Block, Farmer Wants a Wife and I’m really looking forward to Cops LAC!

Survivor Nicaragua starts in the US on Sept 15th. I guess there’s no date yet for it to start here?

  6. Brandex July 23, 2010 at 2:54 am -

Is there any word on whether Nikita, Undercovers and Mike & Molly will be fast tracked to Nine? And the same with Southland, Hellcats and Pretty Little Liars?

Also, I stopped watching Fringe early in Season 1 when it was being messed around with on Nine and wasn’t able to watch 1-2 on Go! How lost will I be if I start watching from Season 3?

SouthLAnd on Go! gives me stomach cramps. that show is awesome!

  8. Matt July 22, 2010 at 10:53 pm -

Calling it now, that the Politically Incorrect Parenting Show will be canned after the first episode. The promos just seemed So awful.

  9. Barrie July 22, 2010 at 10:51 pm -

“The farmer wants a wife with a twist” ??? maybe theres something about mary?
“Big supersized version of Biggest Loser” How much bigger can it get? I’ll need a new widescreen TV with at least 50″. If theres no vote offs then it sounds good.

  10. Matt July 22, 2010 at 8:54 pm -

Also, I agree with everyone saying fast-track Survivor to Thursday nights, which would mean it would be shown only a few hours after the US. It’s the only show I’ll be watching on Nine.

  11. Matt July 22, 2010 at 8:51 pm -

Survivor: Nicaragua is gonna be awesome. Can’t wait.

  12. DC July 22, 2010 at 8:34 pm -

Im guessing that the Underbelly telemovies and The Panic at rock island wont be aired this year but rather next year???

  13. Lyn July 22, 2010 at 7:15 pm -

I love ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’
Were they going to screen the US version or do their own version?

  14. Lou July 22, 2010 at 5:50 pm -

I had been holding off on Human Target because it was coming to FTA – wont make that mistake again.

  15. Cyrus July 22, 2010 at 5:29 pm -

What happened to series 2 and 3 of Primeval? Getting a few years old now…

  16. Hacky Jokeandunnit July 22, 2010 at 5:02 pm -

    Yawn

  17. Darcy July 22, 2010 at 4:57 pm -

Whose line? Do you know if this was US repeats, or an Aussie version? Damn I love that show, have watched all 8 seasons at least 3 times :D

  18. Tasmanian de√il July 22, 2010 at 4:54 pm -

Good to see that they’re intending to show The Middle. Still a lot of unaired Season 1 episodes, so hopefully 9 gets around to showing them before Season 2 starts. But then again, I wouldn’t get my hopes up that Season 2 is going to be fast tracked at all, considering 9′s track record of promising new shows and not showing them.

  19. Dean July 22, 2010 at 3:16 pm -

So looking forward to Fringe returning. Would have liked Whose line is it anyway to have been shown. Awesome funny show.

  20. wayne July 22, 2010 at 2:44 pm -

I”m pumped about fringe and V,good on “em.No surprise that flashpoint disapeared,Someone at channel nine must really hate that show.

  21. Matt July 22, 2010 at 2:22 pm -

Southland is on GO! I’m going to be amazed how they can shuffle a show with one 7 episode season and then a 6 episode season.

  22. Kage July 22, 2010 at 2:01 pm -

Am looking forward to Star Trek the original series on GO! when they finally decide to show it.

  23. David Knox July 22, 2010 at 1:27 pm -

    AFP looks hot.

  24. Paull July 22, 2010 at 1:25 pm -

So fringe will be fast tracked, but won’t be on tv until next year??

I’ve been waiting for this AFP show since last year, will it actually ever see the light of day?

  25. Lewis July 22, 2010 at 1:23 pm -

Survivor is the only interesting one.

Why ditch Whose Line is it Anyway? A great show that is.

  26. Tommo July 22, 2010 at 1:19 pm -

Any word on Dante’s Cove? Or have the authorities made it too ‘controversial’ toshow!

  27. Matt July 22, 2010 at 1:17 pm -

Wait, they were supposed to be showing Whose Line is it Anyway? Make it happen 9!

  28. David Knox July 22, 2010 at 1:15 pm -

    No video sorry.

List does not include shows already scheduled including Hot in Cleveland for next week.

  29. vinny July 22, 2010 at 1:04 pm -

seasons is “seasons” not “seassons .

  30. Steph July 22, 2010 at 12:58 pm -

nothing really interesting in that bunch really….. but I am looking forward to the new Betty White show – thought that was coming to nine next week???

  31. mojoman July 22, 2010 at 12:56 pm -

Channel nine is a little bit like politicians at the moment promisisng all the good stuff yet never delivering

  32. Matthew July 22, 2010 at 12:54 pm -

I am surprised that there are a few shows on the list that look interesting to me – channel 9 dont usaully have any shows that appeal to me. Also glad to see Fringe and V on the fastrack list.

  33. Bogues July 22, 2010 at 12:46 pm -

No word on fast tracking season six of Weeds. I was hoping that Go! would screen the season on the back of season five (which they are currently showing)

  34. Jake July 22, 2010 at 12:27 pm -

Still no new episodes of The Moment of Truth. Repeats have been airing on GO! recently but no new seasons.

  35. JB July 22, 2010 at 11:56 am -

Looks like i still won’t be watching any Nine cos looks like more crap. Only thing i watch on Nine is Survivor & Footy Classified, oh and record NRL Footy Show at 12am and if Titans game is on. Other than that i skip the channel.

Might check out S#*! My Dad Says

  36. APM July 22, 2010 at 11:41 am -

what the?? fast-tracking The Middle Season 2? they haven’t even finished airing Season 1 yet. with all these Big Bang and 2.5 Men Marathons they’ve been playing, they could have easily been airing The Middle instead. If the new US eps start in mid/late September, they’re gonna have to catch up real fast if they wanna fast-track season 2! only 8 eps have aired for season 1 on both 9 and GO!

  37. Steve July 22, 2010 at 11:38 am -

I’m quite happy to see Hellcats on that list.

  38. Elise July 22, 2010 at 11:12 am -

If they fastracked season 3 of The Inbetweeners, that would be good news too.

  39. henry July 22, 2010 at 10:44 am -

    @Craig

Survivor: Nicaragua has moved to Wednesdays in the US. Nine could fast-track it for Thursday nights.

  40. mikeys July 22, 2010 at 10:34 am -

Fringe returns September 23, 2010 for any fans….

  41. Ronnie July 22, 2010 at 10:34 am -

Sounds awful. Is Cops LACking originality the only Aussie drama? Kate Ritchie to rescue? I think the audience is way smarter than this. Police procedurals are on the nose – the figures for City Homicide speak for themselves.

  42. Tas July 22, 2010 at 9:46 am -

Is there a link so we can watch this promo?

  43. Kathy July 22, 2010 at 9:43 am -

    SMAC says:
    July 22, 2010 at 7:51 am
harrys law is not starting in the USA till early 2011 so how is 9 showing it in 2010?

Are you sure about that? Reading various blogs about what is coming to US TV recently, Harry’s Law is scheduled to start in September/October 2010.

Past Life – The US have stopped airing this show after five episodes (only 7 were made). Fox recently announced they would not air the final two episodes hence I guess why it is no longer on the Nine list.

David with Dark Blue (a great show by the way), will that be Season 1 or Season 2…the latter is scheduled to commence in the US early August 2010.

  44. chk chk July 22, 2010 at 9:41 am -

I’m a little disappointend that Money for Jam and What’s Good for you are more than like not to come back but I’m really excited to see a lot of new shows especially Nikita, AFP, Big and When I Grow Up and the second season of V!

  45. David Knox July 22, 2010 at 9:28 am -

Claire Werbeloff is in The Real Hustle.

  46. Scott July 22, 2010 at 9:24 am -

Are nine Ever going to air season 3 of secret diary of a call girl??

  47. Craig July 22, 2010 at 9:10 am -

Come on 9 Please fast track Survivor!!!

  48. Ruddeger July 22, 2010 at 9:10 am -

What’s happened to Chk Chk Booms show ?
Perhaps Nine saw sense and realised it’ll bomb.

  49. David Knox July 22, 2010 at 9:09 am -

Jason: I have mainly focussed on the “unaired” titles.

  50. Craig July 22, 2010 at 8:48 am -

Nice fast track list but how fast is fast, they claim to be fast tracking new Top Gear but it will be a month after the UK, oh and I guess no launch date for TGA yet?. I know Vampire Diaries was the same week but what of the others and have they caught up with The Middle yet, last I heard it had been removed. Also does this mean V is no longer on the main channel?

Good to see Southland on GO! but it’s a bit late isn’t it and yes what has happened to Human Target, Nine promised it so long ago most would have forgotten it.

  51. AJ July 22, 2010 at 8:46 am -

Interested in watching Survivor, Sherlock, Undercovers, Mike & Molly and Nikita on 9 as well as Hellcats and Hung Jnr (aka The Hard Times of RJ Berger) on Go.

Which of course means they’ll soon end up on the list of shows which were promised, but never arrive.

  52. ozinoz July 22, 2010 at 8:41 am -

Are they kidding. I can smell that pile from here. Sh@t my dad says and The Boss is coming to Dinner (why on earth would you do that??)

The Gruen competition for the worst ad should be reworked for the worst programming. Would love to see Nine presented with a polished gold tu#d – it would be so fitting

  53. Jason S July 22, 2010 at 8:27 am -

No word on Fast-tracking for The Big Bang Theory season 4?

  54. bindi July 22, 2010 at 8:14 am -

typical that the ones I was interested in (Human Target, Past Life, The Forgotten) have disappeared. The fastracking on GO! sounds good but who knows what will end up happening with the shamozzle they have made of that channel lately.

  55. SMAC July 22, 2010 at 7:51 am -

harrys law is not starting in the USA till early 2011 so how is 9 showing it in 2010?

  56. ryaneco July 22, 2010 at 7:14 am -

I’d like to see how Nine play Mr Sunshine this year considering it is a midseason replacement in the US and isn’t scheduled to start over in the US till January 2011.

And Go sounds promising but with all the constant scheduling changes I wouldn’t hold my breath to watch majority of those shows uninterrupted (i.e. slot moves etc not on delay because of US airings)

  57. Bill L July 22, 2010 at 6:42 am -

I think Past Life also disappeared in the US too
