Returning: Heston’s Feasts

You saw him on the UK leg of that cooking show, now his second series is coming to SBS.

Heston Blumenthal returns for a second season of Heston’s Feasts next month on SBS.

Blumenthal was prominent in the UK leg of MasterChef Australia where Jonathan idolised the UK chef.

Renowned chef Heston Blumenthal returns with a second series of Heston’s Feasts where he creates six modern day banquets inspired by history.

Heston’s philosophy is that food should be fun: a delicious, spectacular adventure in which every bite is a surprise to the senses. To Heston, the future of cooking lies in the secret recipes of the past, so he’s travelling back in time to explore all manner of culinary worlds.

In each episode, Heston explores a period of extraordinary gastronomic innovation, recreating ‘lost’ recipes, and discovering forgotten flavours and ingredients. He also travels to remote areas to source unusual foods and along the way he meets some passionate food experts who help him in his quest. He then uses his unique scientific approach to cooking to assemble his own versions of great historical and mythical feasts.

Among the lavish banquets Heston prepares for series two are a Willie Wonka feast based on Roald Dahl’s famous novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, an Edwardian Titanic Feast, a Fairytale feast inspired by his favourite stories which thrilled and scared him as a child, and Heston goes ghoulish in an eye-popping Gothic feast that takes inspiration from iconic works of horror such as Frankenstein, Dracula and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

The culmination of each of Heston’s culinary quests is a spectacular banquet laid on for a boisterous bunch of diners.

This starts Thursday August 19th at 8.30pm on SBS ONE.

  1. Can’t wait for season 4 of “The IT Crowd”
There’s a Heston inspired visit to the Flappy Duck restaurant, where Reynholm is served a chocolate Hi-Fi followed by invisible desert.

Heston is a legend. Anyone who can make a Little Chef meal edible, gets my vote.
