Airdate: Rookie Blue

Canadian police drama Rookie Blue features five rookie cops plunged into the high stakes world of big city policing.

Canadian police drama Rookie Blue will have its Australian premiere on the Universal Channel.

Starring Missy Peregrym (Heroes, Reaper) and Gregory Smith (Everwood) it is described as a youthful, character-driven drama about five rookie cops plunged into the high stakes world of big city policing – where even the smallest rookie mistake can have life-or-death consequences. The series focusses on the competition and camaraderie of a rookie police group.

Every cop says the real policing is done on the street – that’s where the danger is, that’s where the heart is, that’s where the humour is – that’s where it’s unpredictable and messy and real and fast, just like life.

The soul of this close-knit group is 26-year old Andy McNally. She’s growing up fast, carrying a gun, and feeling like a fraud half the time. Andy is a real product of her experience. She comes from a police family and this is all she’s ever wanted to be. Her dad was a cop too – although not exactly the best cop. Or the best father…

Promisingly, the series was picked up for a second season after only three episodes had aired.

Double episodes air each Sunday from 6.30pm from September 12th on Universal.

  1. This, along with Covert Affairs are both a good watch. Anything has to be better than the acting (it is woeful) that comes from City Homicide right?
