Boy’s own View

Barbara Walters is reportedly developing a "unisex" spinoff of The View with a male perspective.

This could almost be one for 7mate….

Barbara Walters is developing a “unisex” spinoff of The View that will add a male perspective.

The spinoff, from Walters and co-creator Bill Geddie, would feature five co-hosts discussing a range of topical subjects as an afternoon offering when Oprah winds up her show. It will be produced in L.A. instead of New York.

Former Today show host Bryant Gumbel is one name being floated as a possible regular while comedian Alec Mapa (Ugly Betty), former BET news anchor Jacque Reid and former FOX News host E.D. Hill are are also said to be on the wish list (which one is the new Elisabeth Hasselbeck?).

An ABC spokesman declined to comment.

  1. Hopefully Bryant becomes a regular he was great as a guest mod on The View. I have fond memories of him hosting NBC Today in the 80’s/90’s and would love to see him back on tv.
