Curley in the kitchen

Meet chef Ian Curley who will be fronting another Seven new cooking show, Conviction Kitchen.

And here’s chef Ian Curley who will be fronting (one of) Seven’s new cooking shows, Conviction Kitchen.

As first reported by TV Tonight in July, the series sees a group of ex-criminals man an inner-city Brisbane bistro and create a top-quality menu to accompany it.

All profits will go to charity, with the best two workers on staff to embark on new careers as trainees in one of Curley’s kitchens.

Curley, whose name was associated with the show several weeks ago, is well-placed to front this Canadian format, after spending time in a juvenile detention facility prior to his career as executive chef of Melbourne venues The European, Siglo, Melbourne Supper Club and City Wine Shop.

“I’m very excited to be part of Conviction Kitchen. I didn’t have the best start, so this is my way of giving something back,” he said.

“I strongly believe that you can turn people’s lives around – if you have the chance to help someone, you should.”

Executive Producer Sonya Wilkes said: “Conviction Kitchen will be riveting and emotional viewing as we follow the trainee’s journey into an entirely new life as they step outside their comfort zones to find their place in society.”

The show will join other Seven food brands in the pipeline including series two of My Kitchen Rules and Iron Chef Australia. It’s unclear if the show will premiere in 2010 or 2011.

This will be Curley’s first TV hosting gig.

  1. @ experts.. If this show rates in the top 20 will you donate $500 to this site.?
Put your money where your big mouths are…

Back up your alleged tv insite.. as you think you know it all…

Mark this post so we can all come back to Mr 2.5 man…

  2. @S. a show about crims that can cook. tell me where does this jump out at you that this could be a winner. because i don’t and it will be terrible. it’s just 7 trying to beat 10 at cooking shows and nothing else

  3. I’m actually an expert that was excited by the prospect of Masterchef; I love cooking shows.

I’m not stating this will flop but 3 cooking shows all commissioned by Seven is overkill.

Prehaps conviction kitchen will be a 7TWO Production. I actually don’t mind MKR and will most likely check out an aussie version of Iron Chef but this one is very ho-hum sounding and been done before with Jamies Kitchen Australia hiring no hopers in the opening of Fifteen Melbourne.

  4. i personally think this is a fantastic idea being one of the finalists for conviction kitchen i have found it extremely hard to find work because of my criminal history this is a great opportunity for myself and the other contestants to better ourselves in life and finally have a chance at a life changing career
Well done Channel Seven this show will change lives.
